anyone have ideas on where to beat the crowds, or will there be any? I want to hit up Burke but I think it's around 3 1/2 hrs(better saved for an overnight trip), can do the River in 2 1/2 but guessing probably big crowds there, went to Crotched Fri so I'm looking for a little bit more challenge and vert I think, as always advice is appreciated and usually followed

Where are you driving from? Unless you live somewhere in Maine or eastern NH, Burke is a faster drive than Sunday River from almost any location in New England (almost all highway from most places, too. Burke definitely will be one of the biggest mountains you can ski with no lift lines.

Damn, how fast do you drive? Burke is 2 3/4 hours from Boston doing the speed limit all the way and no traffic as a reference point. No idea how you get to Sunday River in 2.5 from 20 minutes south of Boston but you could probably get to Burke just as fast if not faster.
