Hey Everyone,

Does anybody have any recommendations for an outstanding resort for.a group of 25-35 skiiers? I'm trying to plan a trip to either:

(1) Sunday River
(2) Stowe
(3) Killington or
(4) Stratton

I'm trying to find one or two condos/houses that would fit us all and give us good privacy and would be in the $175 range for 2 nights lodging plus 1 lift ticket/person.

If you are familiar with the cabins of the company Northern Outdoors in Maine, this is exaclty the type of accomodations we are looking for (semi-luxury, great privacy, relaxed atmosphere, etc.).

Has anybody planned such a trip for their own group??

Thanks in advance!

i would second the stowe option. you have both spruce and mansfield. i would go to the go stowe website and look at some of the places then call the hotels and find out what group discount you could get. if you want info on the area do a quick search stowe food or stowe lodging. or ask any of us something specific

I'd give SR the thumbs up, and it's prolly going to be a better option pricewise. Not sure what they charge for condos, but I know they have rentals available. Our club did a 5 day bus trip that cost under 600 bux for double occ room and lift tix, ski in/out, several ski clinics and access to some nice facilities with a pool and hot tub at the Grand Summit. Seemed like a reasonable deal.

Stowe is by far the best resort out of the four selections you have listed (how did you come up with the short list, out of curiosity?) but will also be the most expensive and hardest to find deals for. Stowe also benefits from a rather high snow fall total and will generally have better snow conditions.

I chose Sunday River, Killington & Stowe for their size and reliable ski conditions (we are hoping to go in early January), and Stratton because I love their European-ish village.

I'm looking into some rental houses that hold up to 30 people, but all the good ones seem to have 3-night minimums. Hmmmm

My friends rented this place and had a blast:

It is two places that are attached and can be rented separately:

http://www.cyberrentals.com/rental/p101882
... and one of the reviewers says they were allowed to do a 2-night stay there, even though the "official" policy is 3.

I feel like Stowe would be the best because there are distinct beginner, intermediate and advanced areas but there are moderate ways down from all the lifts for mixed groups. At any resort you're going to score decent group discounts which often include a free ticket or two for the organizer. Coming from Massachusettes, all of the options seem good but Stowe receives the most natural snow and I feel like the town offers a large amount of moderate prices lodging and a nice town for non-skiers and apres-ski. Plus great cross-country centers. I'd put Sunday River up there but Stowe is a much more impressive mountain..
