I haven't skied Whiteface in 9 years and I'm just going to be there for 1 day so I'm looking to get the maximal experience out of it. I already know it should be very cold (Polar Vortex #2? #3?) but I won't let that phase me.

First off, are there any runs I should prioritize, any "signature" runs you all would recommend? I'm hoping for the slides to be open, but they might remain closed, even if Whiteface gets the 8-9 inches of snow they are supposed to accumulate over the week between now and then.

Are there any off-map/ unlisted tree runs? Not that I expect anyone to give me their secret stashes, but a little guidance would be greatly appreciated ;-)

Anything else I should know beforehand?

I'll post a trip report when it's all over, hopefully it's a fun day.

I haven't been there in at least 5 years but I've always loved the 10th Mtn Division Glades! With a little poking around in that area you might be able to find your own secret stash :)

Wilderness and Mackenzie off of Approach on Little Whiteface. I'd say Empire but it won't be open. The Wilmington Trail is a must even if it's blue rated. Fun little stuff to jump off on the right side. Lookout Below and Hoyt's too if they have snow. Of course Cloudspin and Skyward from the summit but I'll wager that Cloudspin will be closed. Even just Lower Skyward is fun, a nice bump run. I don't think any marked woods will be open. Mountain Run is a good bet if you want to hit Tunaspeed(TM).

Whiteface is some of the best skiing in the east, the problem is it's only some of the best skiing in the east a handful of days per year. I'd echo the Wilmington Trail, as well as Hoyt's High, gotta savor Lookout Mountain given it's rarely open compared to the rest of the place. The best area tip I could give you is to make sure you eat at ADK Cafe in Keene (15 mins from Lake Placid) if your schedule allows.

Or Lake Placid Pub & Brewery for some Ubu Ale and a fancy burger. I love that Ubu! And yes^^^, the terrain is awesome but conditions dictate.
