I knew this video looked familiar... :)

This video was actually made by conrad of AZ who knows quite a bit about lifts. I don't think he's been on in awhile but he might be able to give more information about all these lifts if you asked him.

Now I understand why some one mentioned the Peak 2 Peak gondola at Whistler as one that scared people. I wouldn't like being that high up without at set of wings. Bummed I never got to ride the Skimobile at Cranmore and the Drag Lift scene is pretty funny. BTW TB why aren't you out skiing? Looks like things out there are picking up out there.

The South Ridge Triple will always be #1 in my books. God, I miss that chair.

I skied two weeks ago at Snowbird before we got snow. I've got work this week. Am going this weekend.

And I'm glad that I rode BOTH the original Sunrise Triple and the South Ridge Triple.

Rode those plus the original 3 stage gondola when it went to K peak. Then there's the 1st plus the replacement double chairs that went up K peak, even rode the 1st one after they moved it over to Needles. Also rode the original lower Snowdon poma before there were any chairs on Snowdon. Oh yeah the glades (north ridge) poma to before the chair. Man I'm getting old.

Portillo Chile looks awesome.

I grew up with one of those Poma lifts (like in the first video) that had the frisbee you'd stick between your legs. Fun part was you could kind of spring load it and the lifty could pull the lever (to engage you on the cable) such that you'd launch in to the air (when I was an eighty pound kid, anyway) - fun stuff.

One of the crazier lifts I was on was outside of Moscow somewhere. It was a cable tow, and your lift ticket included the rental of what was basically an eighteen inch stick or pole with a small cable attached to that. Somehow you attached that cable onto brackets spinning on the lift cable and got towed up. I don't really remember the details, but the crazy part is you had to hang onto that stick all day and ski / ride with it. Was awkward to ski with, and a real risk to impale yourself if you crashed. Also really tempting to whack your ski buddies when you're riding around with a billy club. Lawsuit waiting to happen in modern times.

I've been on the Peak to Peak and I'd have to say I was a bit anxious hanging up there that high on a cable. I was glad to make it to the other side and decided I'd ski down to the base to switch mountains instead next time.
