Just got the word, officially, that the Look Pivot binding (aka Rossi FKS, etc) is being "reissued". Seems the mogul skiers in particular wouldn't let it die. Good news, eh?

My mate (SkiDeb) sez check out next year's "Little Black Skirt" by Blizzard. She skied it at Cannon a few weeks back and was impressed....and she doesn't impress easily (at least when it comes to skis). Heh.

Original Look Pivot or Rossi FKS (same heel) can't be beat. For current models, the bumpers I know also like the Salomon Z-Series - nice 'n light with great "roll" stiffness in the toepiece and a reliable heel.

Word is, Rossi and K2 are bagging it...

It sure CAN matter. If you buy skis from an authorized dealer and have a problem, you can return the skis to any other authorized dealer (IF YOU KEEP YOUR RECEIPT). Say you buy Volkls in New Hampshire, but the skis delam within the warranty period in Colorado - you don't have to take them back...

It's hard to produce a perfect 0-degree base bevel along with a flat base. Most skis come off the stone grinder with a slightly recessed edge, and any amount of flat-filing will bring that edge down even farther. I'd suspect that your "0" base bevel is actually a .5 or so. This may not apply...

Regerlar files will work, but you'll go through 'em faster. Most of the files you see on those skitool websites are chrome-plated. They are worth the extra $, 'cuz they last longer and cut cleaner. If you buy from Tognar, etc., just make sure the files are chrome. I haven't seen chrome files...

OK, this year's Scratch Mogul came in 167 and 175. Those are true sizes. The 'Brawler was made in 169 and 179, but those are NOT true sizes. The actual size of this year's and last year's Cabrawlers is 4-5 cm shorter than the size printed on the ski. So, the real size of the 169 is around...
