    Top five Resorts

    1. Sugarbush 2. MRG 3. Smuggs 4. Stowe 5. Jay In case you didn't realize it from my list, I agree w/ Steeze that Northern VT is where it's at.

    Glades @ Sugarbush

I would ski basically any of the marked woods alone, but that may not be the best idea. None of the woods are terribly challenging, but I would tend to agree with the order that WWF put out there. Egan's is probably the toughest of the marked glades, as the entrance can be pretty tight and a...

    good eats in stowe?

That's not actually true. They have pretty much as many seatings as they need in the night. They start taking names at 4:30, but you should probably get there around 4 to get in line to put your name in. It gets pretty crazy in there.

    Brilliant Gems of Trail Design

Ironically, Robin's Run was originally an illegal cut. I do agree with that one though. I would also add Liftline at Smuggs to the list. Pretty much all of MRG. Bush: Castlerock, Paradise, Mall, Hammerhead, Tumbler

best place to go x-mas week

I'd drive the extra half hour to the Bush. They will be 100% open (already are at South). They obviously have challenging terrain, as we've discussed over and over again on this board. Northern VT pretty much always has the best snow in New England and has the best terrain hands down.

    What's good in the NEK

I'm going up to the Northeast Kingdom this weekend (staying near Burke). I was originally supposed to go biking at Kingdom Trails, but that fell through so I will now be hiking. What are some good hikes in the area? I am preferably looking for rather long day hikes.

Official Red Sox 2007 Playoff Thread

I doubt that Schilling will steal A-Rod's lipstick to put on his sock. I do agree that at this point, Schill matches up better with Carmona than Dice-K. Plus, Dice-K has pitched better on the road than at Fenway so far this season.

Official Red Sox 2007 Playoff Thread

I have to say I'm a bit nervous about the Indians. The Sox have been playing great ball lately, though, so it should be a good series. I don't have a good feeling about the Dice-K vs. Carmona starts at all...

    New York Yankees

Torre hasn't won anything in a while. I think it's time for a change in NY. It's funny how all the Yankee fans suddenly disappear when the Yankees start losing (or in this case are done for the year). MudPuddle seemed so cocky a week ago and now he's nowhere to be found.

Skiing, Boarding, and the current climate

The earth may have been warming for the past 15000 years, but it sure has been warming a lot faster in the past few decades. It seems highly unlikely that human pollution has no impact on the current state of the environment. That's all I'm saying - I don't feel like getting into this again and...

    Fingers crossed...

The snow was so deep and thick at Smuggs that day that you had to follow someone else's tracks. If you tried to break trail, you would just end up pushing through the snow and practically walking downhill.

    New York Yankees

A new lease on life? Last time I checked they finished with the best record in baseball. There are ups and downs in every season - no one expected that the Sox would play .700 baseball all season. And no one expected that the Yankees would suck all season long.

Official Red Sox 2007 Playoff Thread

I went to the Sox rally at City Hall Plaza last night. It was fun, but they had some seriously obscure bands and music early on. It ended well with the Standells and then the Dropkicks. Unfortunately, they only let the Dropkicks play about 5 songs. I'm pumped for Wednesday. Predictions for the...

I would be willing to show you the light sometime this winter. I've got a Bush pass this year, but would certainly be up for going back to Smuggs for a day.

    AZ Rate Vermont Mountains

I would definitely not classify Jay as a mountain with slow lifts - that award certainly goes to Smuggs and MRG. Jay has the Green Mountain Freezer and the Tram. Yes, not every lift is a high speed quad, but they aren't the slowest. I've never really found great bumps at Jay. CanAm tends to bump...

    AZ Rate Vermont Mountains

Well, that's your problem. You haven't skied Sugarbush, MRG, Stowe and Smuggs. I wouldn't mention the other 3 mountains in the conversation either. As for why Jay wasn't higher up on my list, I just am not really a fan of the setup and atmosphere. The trees are really not as great as everyone...
