    Jay Peak bombshell

This thread is really supposed to be about the scandal & the baddies, not about Jay Peak in general.

    VAIL SUCKS

Regarding the "increase", if you know you're going to buy anyway I see no sense in waiting. Just do the $49 thing with the September balance and lock in the lowest price. No sense giving Vail a bolus of your money earlier than need be. EDIT: And if you happen to have a 4 year old with a...

EVs - New Hampshire gets it right

Internet adoption rates slowed in 2001, which is precisely why email never replaced mailing letters. Oh........ wait.......

    Jay Peak bombshell

I cant believe nobody's mentioned Alice's Table at Jay Peak, it's fantastic food. The only place I ever bother eating while skiing Jay Peak. Doubt it's open this late in the season, but definitely check it out next year if you havent already.

EVs - New Hampshire gets it right

I use engine braking all the time. TBH I think people who dont do this really dont know how to drive. Especially in the mountains, I couldn't imagine not knowing how to do this properly. If you get good at it and properly anticipate the terrain, you really dont use your brakes that much...

    VAIL SUCKS

I was selected too, which makes absolutely no sense. This is a case of Vail just "shotgunning" the email out to everyone rather than using the hoards of data they have on us for targeted marketing.

    VAIL SUCKS

Through mid-April, Vail has seen, "modest decline in pass product units and growth in sales dollars" for next season's EPIC pass sales. Keep in mind they took about an 8% price increase...

    Ski Wax and PFAS Contamination

I volunteered at the FIS event here last month & I was told they were testing skis for the naughty wax. How "accurate" it is I have no idea, but I know at least some form of testing exists.

    Your 2023-24 Ski Season Thread

They have these hard rubber 'U' shaped fingers that attach perpendicular from the bar down to the seat, but there are a bunch of them probably every 5 inches all across the six-pack so that there's no gap at all even for small kids to slide forward off the chair.

    Your 2023-24 Ski Season Thread

It was nice. My wife noted the seats were very cushy. Only got hung up with RFID once (I hate those things) where I had to take the ticket out and hold it to the gate. I like how Poma has the chair bar "teeth" (no idea what they're called) that go all the way to the seat for extra protection...

Your battery heater will kick-in, and that will reduce your effective range. They really need to be garage kept.

EVs - New Hampshire gets it right

I actually saw an Aztec on the road the other day. It was eons since I'd seen one given: A) The "newest" are like 20 years old B) They only ever made about 120k of them. It's considered one of the greatest failures in automotive history.

    VAIL SUCKS

It wasn't Thursday night when I tried this, so they must have fixed it. I tried 3 times. Also, I navigated in through "quick renewal" (not sure if that made a difference or not) which took me right to the payment page.

Another reason why battery swapping should have been the initial winning technology, not immovable batteries. Better yet, battery swapping also with a very small internal battery capable of 30 or 40 miles.

EVs - New Hampshire gets it right

Electric vehicles definitely weigh more than comparable ICE vehicles due to the many batteries and heavy metals they employ. Batteries are just heavy. The Cybertruck's close to 7,000 pounds. Saw one in the wild the other day in Park City, it's just as ugly in person as in the photos.

    VAIL SUCKS

Yeah, I've seen fees added before, but never quite like this. It's intentionally hard to notice, and even if you do, intentionally hard to figure out how to avoid. My guess is this isn't really Vail's doing, but rather some crunchy, twenty-something, left-wing, web engineer thinking s/he's...

    VAIL SUCKS

Be careful if you're renewing EPIC passes. They add in a $1 "forestry donation" per pass, but they make absolutely no mention that they've added this fee to your bill. It only appears on the very final page where you click to pay, and you'd have to notice the math on that last screen where you...
