    Peeing while skiing

The port a potties at our end of season party/day event were.. ahem ... above capacity that many females would like to use them. I watched a woman walk in, promptly walk out, and then not hidden at all go in the snow and take a leak. Felt like a festival lol.

    Killllington πŸŽΏπŸ‚πŸ‚πŸŽΏπŸŽΏπŸ‚πŸ‚πŸŽΏπŸ˜€

Supe gets the shoulder seasons but Snowshed is a primary summer lift running 7 days a week at peak. I'd bet they have pretty similar hours ran.

The resort has said that the replacement order is Ramshead first and then Superstar iirc. After that all bets are off. If Superstar is on its last legs Snowshed can't be far behind it.

    Summer 2024 improvements

We are putting in 2 new magic carpets to replace one. Doesn't sound like anything, but the current magic carpet has been ski school only since it's inception... meaning Alta is (as far as I know) the only major ski area left in the country that does not have a magic carpet open to the public...

Utah ski trip 3/28 to 3/31 (plus an April return)

Sounds like a great trip! Alta closing day is rapidly turning into one of the best and relatively wild parties in the country. Last year closing day shattered our skier visit record. Lots of drinking and smoking 20-somethings. So take this all with what you will and decide if that's...

Alta Honors Ski Vouchers from 1970

That is a great story! Earlier this week we had a teen visibly getting sick in the early AM after the first run. Dad came down and pulled him out. The dad tried talking himself out of a refund saying his son had participated. Can't say I've ever had that before. He still left the instructor a...

    Windhold Galore

Yes. That was both the longest it's been windy and the strongest wind I've had in the three seasons here. It felt like Vermont everyday lol.

    PSA: 2024-2025 Ikon Renewal

At $600 with the renewal discount, I'm nearly priced out of the mountain collective pass. I'll get 6 days in on it this year plus a 50% discount extra day by the end of this season. It's funny because I'm essentially in the same boat as a majority of the casual mega pass holders in that I...

    The ALTERRA SUCKS Thread

Welcome! I live in Midvale. Draper is ideal but expensive. That'll put us at 4.25 AZ members living in UT in 20ish mile radius. The Alpinezone capital of the world is Utah, go figure.

    Vote for Utah ski bus

Closing day/Frank last season was over 7,000 skier visits. The math is correct on cars leaving Alta. Assuming everyone zippers properly/takes turns. We did the math and it was a worse ration like 1:16 but that could've just been us at Albion lot. This post highlights how Alta, Snowbird...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

They did it! Still shocking to me it's open as we enter the 2/3rds mark of my 3rd season at Alta. I remember having a Magic pass the first year Black was supposed to open lol.

    The ALTERRA SUCKS Thread

I love it as long as the mountain capacity isn't overwhelmed. Whenever I teach a rare beginner lesson these days I always drop that the rope tow and our beginner chairlift are completely free. And Sunnyside is $25 3pm-4:30pm. Fantastic deals.

    The ALTERRA SUCKS Thread

They bought reasonably priced day tickets and skied 2-5 days a season. With Ikon a lot of people in that demographic are skiing more. That's where the increase comes from. Not more skiers, more ski days.

Progress on Deer Valley's New Sister Resort

I just ranted in skitalk about someone concerned about the drive to altabird on a weekend. OFC its worth it. An extra 30-60 minutes each way to ski the greatest snow on earth? How tf is that not worth it

EVs - New Hampshire gets it right

UK just delayed the 100% EV switch from 2030 to 2035 citing the cost for consumers.

    VAIL SUCKS

Liftblog posted the date but I forget. Should be very very soon, before the end of the month. I can't imagine much being in the works for the northeast besides the Attitash summit lift. Off the top of my head the most critical improvement needed at the Vail ne properties is probably a hsq...

    Killllington πŸŽΏπŸ‚πŸ‚πŸŽΏπŸŽΏπŸ‚πŸ‚πŸŽΏπŸ˜€

    3. Season pass prices have finally risen to what they were in the mid 00s and earlier. Why we're complaining is beyond me. Especially given labor and energy prices are 3-5x more now than they were then.

    Killllington πŸŽΏπŸ‚πŸ‚πŸŽΏπŸŽΏπŸ‚πŸ‚πŸŽΏπŸ˜€

    1. I have no idea why someone so vested in a mountain they own a condo there would care about season pass prices. Even if it's a family of 4 the few hundred dollars increase in prices is still a fraction of the total cost. 2. $69 pico tickets is a steal.

Balsams Grand Resort teams up with ski industry legend Les Otten

All about what's coming down the pipe... https://www.americanactionforum.org/housing-chartbook/permits-and-starts-15/ Significantly less permits being issued now than the immediate post-covid "free money" era. Especially with the multi-family units that this country desperately needs. No...
