Do any "real" skiers (there's a can of worms) rent skis? I ask because in another thread somebody mentioned that to save airline baggage $$ they would rent. I'm not stupid I see the pros and cons to each. Rental skis are no longer necessarily second-rate entry level boards. But as for me...

i got to deploy one of them airbags in a parking lot of a casino in the middle of nowhere, nevada. its very loud and almost violent. not as loud and violent as an avalanche tho haha

I see what youre sayin, but the same thing can and does happen out west, I think the difference is that Mount Washington attracts more people with less experience. (than Denali for example, which has fewer deaths than Mt Washington)

ive flown american, alaskan, and delta recently and in my ski bag i pack skis, poles, boots, ice axes, sleeping bag, clothes, skins, showvel, helmet, probe, beacon, etc and no problem. Usually tipping the scale at around 49.5 pounds. Just be really nice and humble to the folks at the counter
