    Loon South Peak Expansion

My guess is until they build the base lodge/learners village, Timbertown will remain a Fri-Sun and holidays lift. The Pulse Gondi isn't going in this summer, its next, so Loon has time to build something by then. I should think this should be the priority over West Basin lodge, given that...

    Ski Wax and PFAS Contamination

Yes, I believe Raghild got DSQ'd as her skis supposedly tested for Flouro wax. But she was able to prove it wasn't her skis, something like the test system got contaminated. So while they test for it now, seems ver inaccurate. But you cannot buy it any longer. And if you used any wax prior...

    Loon South Peak Expansion

It is now official, Loon and Riverwalk will be installing a Pulse Gondola across the river, thus becoming the first resort in New England to connect the mountain with the actual town via ski lift. Goes in for the 25-26 season and is yet to be determined whether it will be free to ride or an...

DV is the weird one of Alterra's where it isn't unlimited at any iKon level. So the fact is also has reservations should t be a shock, they operate that almost like a partner resort.

    Summer 2024 improvements

Kansas or are you talking Eureka? Eureka needs something, I would think tower guns make sense if they don't intend to make snow across the entire width. That trail is way too wide even for SPC fans to cover full width and wider than WH, though less steep.. That's the main difference between...

    Summer 2024 improvements

It appears SR is changing out its SR7 tower guns on White Heat and going with HKD Impulse Guns on that run. Hmmm, we'll see how that works out. I'm not sold that will = an improvement.

Well, if K is ever getting a base village, I would say Alterra would be vastly better capitalized than Powdr for that. Not to mention the interconnect.

Balsams Grand Resort teams up with ski industry legend Les Otten

The best days of Oz were when the rest of the Western Lifts including Spruce went on wind hold but Oz kept spinning. Was like a private ski area unto yourself if you timed it correctly getting over there. Oz is a blast in the spring, I so miss them making snow on Eureka, that run all modules...

There is likely a better chance LBO's Balsams plans blossom than K gets a base village first.

It also gives the mountain ski in/ski out accomodations with the Jordan Grand that they did not have out of Barker to the end.

Bids? No, bid as in only 1 proposal was received and it was double the planned cost IIRC.

I'm still leaning to they replace North Peak first with likely a 6 and then reinstall the old fully retfurbed at Tempest. But who knows what their next moves are. They could opt to get rid of South Ridge next since it is now the only HSQ at any of the three not directly serviced and supported...

That "hasn't bumped a single person" is only a thing because of the $$$ they are tossing at folks to take a voluntary bump. Delta has oversold plenty, but if they bait folks to take the cash and switch, it magically isn't a bump.

That would be best obviously with this TTB HSQ idea replacing WH. Still, it leaves 3 lifts that have to be maintained at WC. Regards to wind at the top of the heat, I have no idea how much more you can mitigate it on that mostly treeless expanse. I guess they could erect wind fencing, but...

True on the mid-station adding costs on both ends, but it does offer easier access back to the Summit Hotel. Still, given the wind issues at the top of White Cap, I doubt they do this ever.

    The "Sugarbush Thread"

Actually, SR is closing 4/28. Sugarloaf has not published it's spring schedule but are offering tickets straight through to 4/30 currently. That is the middle of the week, but their ticket calendar won't open for May. Have to think they go through first weekend of May, especially if this...

    Sunday River 22-23

Funny. But I have looked, they could run a detach from the base of WC to the top of the Heat with a midstation for both load/unload at the current Heat base terminal with a slight bend in said midstation. Would cut down lifts need to operate most days and still provide good access options to...

Actually, ILS's are not the measuring stick these days for mountainous airports, its RNAV RNP approaches that can be designed with precise curving paths around terrain. JAC has a great ILS south, and a great RNAV RNP to the North runway. It however is not a bulletproof airport as a 6300'...
