    Owl's Head 1/11/10

I should have stayed in better shape this winter ! @#@&^(%sc Owl's head would have been nice to knock off. Getting back into it slowly but this winter looks like Cabot, Whiteface & likely Passaconaway. (the last two on seperate trips)

    Favorite Winter Brew

In the winter a decent Porter is always nice. The Tuckerman 6288 Stout & Saranac Black & Tan are nice too. I haven't had the Harpoon Seasonal, I'll have to keep an eye out for it as I like their offerings also.....

Hiker falls to death on NH's Mount Washington

Which part did you miss abc; the whole search back in April, F&G giving him a bill or the rumor of it being settled. As far as I know, nothing on the settlement. A lot of debate on other bbs on whether he was negligent or not. (MPOV, bad escape plan) See story when found...

    Mount Washington - 12.3.2009

The parent in me says, looks risky, The outdoorsman says, impressive, most impressive. (That's from a hiker, not a skier too)

    When You Retire.....

Honestly, it will be fairly close to the kids. (Unless they get jobs in Iowa or Illinois). 65 & 70 year old knees & hips don't work the same so a big ski mountain or Jackson Hole so I can climb the grand probably won's be high on the list then. If kids or family were not an issue, a...

Hiker falls to death on NH's Mount Washington

Connecticut, May you never require a rescue, if you do I should hear about, I live in your backyard. He was an MD, and well liked, had he been just injured & billed, it would not had been an issue at all. On another note, there is a rumor that the Masons & the state of NH settled confidentially

    Good Ole Tom, etc....

Anybody have any experience selling a gold ring? I've got an extra one & I'm just curious what I might expect to get for it?

Hiker falls to death on NH's Mount Washington

Sarcasm, IMO with very poor timing. Now I do believe $25K for young Mr. Mason is a tad steep, however, his escape route in April on a very warm weekend was poorly thought out. I can't even knock him too much for going uphill with a sprain ankle as I've gone out 11 days after sustaining a chip...

    2010 Subaru Outback

In the latest safety test five Subaru's got top rating. On a percentage basis a higher number of their fleet than any other car MFG. Toyota had none. (new test on roof stability lowered the number of vehicles from prior year.)

    Hiking during hunting season

Hiking on Sunday probably the safer day as some may stay in for football & getting some rest for work on Monday. Avoid near dusk & near dawn when light isn't great. No hunter wants to bag Soylent Green. The more popular trails will be keep game away so this is a good time to do Monadnock...

Mt. Moosilauke, NH via Benton - 10/16/2009

A friend & I were up there on 10/17 via Gorge Brook. Light wind that day, a tad chilly but a beautiful mid-October Day. I swear the DOC make the freshmen groom the trails with toothbrushes as a hazing stunt.

    Here We Go Again.....

I have only skimmed the seemingly daily rescues. Since this trip, we've had skiers on Washington (Monroe), Baldface hikers, The Moosilauke trip from Craig's List & another one I know I'm missing, all found safely. Water crossings this time of year was probably the biggest thing he...
