What snow conditions allow you to ski a longer day?

A post on the powder thread got me thinking... and questioning. Now lets assume that: -You are using the better equipment for the conditions -You are skiing said conditions in generally accepted good style and skill - sideslipping, long traverses, straight-lining, etc don't really count -Bumps...

    Ski Resort Tycoon

Anyone played? I played it a while ago and just "acquired" it yesterday to help pass the time on slow days. One hour of playing and I'm already almost bankrupt... looks like I'll have to reset.

So, I'm working at Snoqualmie Pass for today while waiting for my NOBO friend from CT to pass by on the PCT, and the higher peaks around (Denny mtn, where Alpental ski area is) have snow on them!! So anyway, I am psyched :)

    Platform pedal love

Ever since finding the skills park downtown I've been watching many platformed folk do their thing and it just got me thinking about trying it out. I have done some pretty big air with my clipless, but its a compromise with the pedal tension - tight enough and you'll stay clipped in even if you...

Mtb TR - Colonnade bike park, Seattle

So, since I have moved here I have shamefully not made it to Whistler yet, I've done minimal mtb cuz I had to fix the thing, and had been trying to find somewhere to replace my weekday haunt like I had in the East. Well, trails here are different. I'm in the city and although there are plenty...

    TR: Ruth Mtn, WA 7/6/08

Yesterday decided to take a day trip up to Ruth Mtn in the North Cascades, right next door to Mt Shuksan and Baker ski resort. Moving out West...

Well, the West is a-calling and so this Sat I bit adieu to the Eastern mountains and start my drive to the state of WA (opposite of Washington DC, for those weak in Geography ;) ). I will definitively miss the North Eastern nature and character, but I don't think I'll be lacking in skiing...

TR: I could've skied South Gully, but it rained and so I stayed home - 4/12/08

...copied my t4t post I am very thankful for the weatherman some days. Forecasting? I have no idea about pressures, lows, temperatures, gradients, systems, degrees... too many fancy terms and too much schooling for this joe. Some things you just have to leave it to the pros. Like this recent...

    Sugarloaf on 3/7?

I'm going to be up at Baxter for all of next week and figured I should check out the Loaf on the way back... heard so much good about it and it'll probably be the last chance to check it out in a while. Let me know if someone is going to be there then. I won't be checking a computer all next...

    FS: Rossignol Z9 170cm

'06 Rossignol Z9s 170cm The top sheet is scratched up, but not too bad. There is a nice coreshot next to the edge (look at pic) that I partially filled with some epoxy. I haven't skied it in a while this season and needless to say, the ski could use a good tune. Has probably <20 days on them...
