Carrying a pack during long trail rides makes sense, until the weight of the pack and contents shifting throws off your balance. Ergon used its extensive research to design a pack with unencumbered lightness and a proprietary movement system to minimize the weight you feel on your shoulders with its BC2 Hydration Pack.
The BC2 is an all-around daypack that features two of Ergon's fit systems. First, using Ergon's Adaptive Carrier System, the BC2 is stabilized against your lower back as you ride. Unlike traditional backpack straps which adjust for length but leave the load hanging from your shoulders, the Adaptive Carrier System creates a cradle between the straps that essentially holds the weight of the pack from below. Think of it as a sling or hammock. In this manner, the pack's weight is held against the small of your back minimizing shifting and movement as you move around on the saddle. It also means that there is less stress placed on your shoulder joints. The second system is the Flink Link. This is a ball joint that is placed in where the straps meet the main pack. It allows the pack to move freely with the rider's movements decreasing resistance. The pack features 3 positions that adjust for height. In addition to the comfortable shoulder straps, the waistband is not just one narrow piece of webbing. It's a wide, slightly padded strap that is easily adjustable with one hand.
The BC2 is designed to carry all of your riding essentials for a long day on the road or trail. It features 976cu in of capacity with an extra 244cu in of expansion. Compression straps hold everything tight to the pack to minimize shifting. The inside is divided into organization compartments and a separate pocket for a bladder. It also comes with a rain cover.
