What a warm few days: both Tuesday and Wednesday broke daily record highs. The 1985 record of 46 degrees was shattered Tuesday as the summit soared to 55 degrees. Wednesday's 1976 record of 52 degrees was also surpassed as temperatures climbed to 57 degrees. The snow that was on the summit has beaten a rapid retreat! The warm temperatures certainly make it feel like summer is putting in an appearance. Wednesday the summit even experienced a thunderstorm accompanied by hail, indicative of a powerful storm cloud. Steve B. must be glad to have avoided a consecutive night on a summit surrounded by several thunderstorms.
