While this perhaps ought to be in the trips/meetups/whatever forum, I'm putting here for consistency since the other Bumpapalooza thread resides here. Mods, if you want to move it, don't. :p Actually, do what you want. As I said, just put it here for the sake of consistency.

People have been asking about Bumpapalooza East, so it's time to set some plans. It will have to be Friday & Saturday, 3/12-3/13. I'm trying not to overlap with S7 (3/20) and BMMC (3/27). The event will be at Mt. Ellen (MOGUL MECCA OF THE EAST!) without question, so it must occur in March.

I hope y'all can make it that weekend. It will be 2 days of awesome mogul skiing, followed by beer and music in the Green Mountain Lounge.

The plan will be to meet beside the ticket building (near bottom of GMX) each morning at 10:00. If you're late, just look for the nut-jobs in mogul pants.

Here's what you get:

I'm only going if those are seeded.

Hmm. 3/12 might work.

Hahahaha... well, if that's what it takes, I'll seed you some moguls on the flattest trail at the mountain

Seriously, though... hope you can make it. You won't be disappointed! :D :spread:

I might be back on skis by then. Patrol gave me a ride down Birdland last Saturday and the doc said I could be back on skis in a month.

having just skied there in what has been an amazing snow drought, mt. ellen is easily the best bastion for bumps on the east coast. I'll have to figure a way out to get there for one of these days but you guys owe it to yourselves to check it out too.

Agree. The skiing has been good despite the lack of snow.

I had really thought I'd be at this event this year as I've been trying to get East for some fun with my AZ friends, but alas, I'll be in Colorado at that time.

After this statement, should I post a smiley or a frowney?

Why can't good natural bumps like that form at more ski areas? Seriously, what is the secret at Sugarbush? Is it the overall caliber of skier there? The snow surface/maintenance, etc.? A combination of things? Those lines look sick.

It's a combination. We are lucky to have a lot of very good skiers at Sugarbush. But our snow management at Mt. Ellen plays a big role. You won't find those lines at most eastern ski areas, regardless of skier ability/density. We can discuss more in-person.
