Thursday January 26th

Berkshire East

Packed & loose powder, windy and very cold!

We arrived at the mountain at 3:15 and skied till 7:00 P.M.

We skied Big Chief, Flying Cloud, Upper & Lower Competition, War Dance & Exhibition. All trails were in good shape depite the fact that Thursday is school race day.

Snow making was in progress on several trails.

Very good to hear. It's almost February and I was getting nervous about snowmaking this late in the season. I believe many places call it quits in February, and with the challenging weather so far...I was just worried.

If it gets cold enough in February, I wouldn't be suprised to see some areas crank it out till the end of the month. With all of the melting in January, there's probably a surplus of water and most areas probably haven't used up much of their snowmaking budget yet given the warm weather.
