Ok I'm bored.

I was thinking on the way to work this am, what movies had great endings. Here is what I came up with.

Bad News Bears: I love the fact they DIDN'T win and were still defiant.

The Great Escape: Steve McQueen going to the cooler...again.

The Empire Strikes Back: They kill Han Solo?

The Usual Suspects: I must admit...I was like WTF at the end.

Any others?

unrelated, Paul- I love the movie that your avatar is from. One of the few holiday movies that I watch over and over. The ending on that was good too!

The ending sequences of both Lock, Stock and Snatch are brilliantly intertwined.

Also the end of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was fantastic as well- three way shoot out, one of the best suspense builds in film history.

I kinda thought Usual Suspects was overrated, but still entertaining. I agree with Sixth Sense, The Game, and Casablanca, as well as add Shawshank Redemption, The Natural, Miracle, and Glory.

The Game with Michael Douglas is a great ending.

Braveheart
Lost in Translation

honorable mention to memento, mulholland drive, and requiem for a dream.

i am all up the not so happy yet (sometimes) uplifting ending. happy endings suck :D stick a dagger in my gut at the end of a movie and i'll love it for ever.

Saw ---> If you like horror, it's a great ending! Never saw it coming.

Shawshank --> I wanted a little more from the ending of Shawshank Redemption. Something like Red coming alongside the boat and him and Tim Robbins character just shaking hands and laughing.

For Stupid laughs ---> Spaceballs takes the cake

I'd totally forgotten that movie. Best. Ending. Ever. Makes sitting through the whole stupid movie worthwhile. Remembering that made me smile.

Gotta say, though, pepsi- I didn't think anyone else had ever seen that movie.

Monty Python: Search for the Holy Grail ---> Just left me going

The French Connection: One of the few "cops and robbers" films where the bad guy gets away.

I was wondering if there was a chance that anyone else had seen it when I posted.

Which brings me to another good movie ending in

Tape

I do know that at least one person has seen that one though ;)

And,

The Minus Man

tape was an okay movie, i can't say the ending was stand out in my mind since i can't remember it very well. a very interesting approach from the director. it almost worked but had a lot of boring and somewhat repetetive diologue. two phenomenal actors though in hawke and his wife, if it wasn't for their talent i don't think the movie would have held together.
