I have just resolved to cancel my Killington Reservations and I am trying to book something last minute to a max pass destination. Has anyone been to WinterPark...any feedback ? Traveling with 2 teenage boys. Already have February school vacation plans for Copper. Website says they have 100 trails open and weather forecast looks great. Colorado plane tickets seem to be the cheapest compared to other destinations. This weather is such a bummer. I bought the max pass because we were really looking forward to skiing many Northeast areas😪

I skied there Sunday, conditions were very good for this time of year. Other nearby areas like Loveland and Breck have got a bit of snow as well but are being way too conservative in opening up terrain.

Panoramic express has yet to open but probably will soon.

Off of Brakeman IIRC

Seems like a great call to me! I bet they drop a bunch of ropes and are close to 100% open soon. More snow on the way... I'm flying to CO on Tuesday and can't wait!

Went there in late march last year, had a great time. Underrated mountain compared to the other big CO resorts. Terrain has great variety, only thing lacking is maybe sustained vert upper intermediate/advanced groomers. The only place with sustained vert is Mary Jane and it is 90% bumps. The rest of the Mtn has lots of flat areas that breaks up your skiing. Trees are excellent everywhere whether it is on Eagle Wind, Mary Jane, Vasquez Ridge or Parsenn Bowl. Trees have been thinned everywhere there due to some type of beetle killing all the trees. The town is inexpensive, but lacks nightlife. Go, you will have a great time.

Thanks for the replies. The picture looks awesome compared to the brown trails here. I don't know if I can pull it off such last minute . Might have to save the PTO days for later in the winter.

Yeah MJ/ WP rocks... have skied there more than a few times in college. I love bumps so for me, Outer Limits and Drunken Frenchman are about the best bumps in CO except for a couple thigh burners off chair 9 in Telluride. They actually tend to under report snowfall and they get a lot in general anyway so I'd say go there and you'll love it. Also, I bet the boys will love the terrain off Deraileur Ridge.

I'm headed to CO during the second week of Jan. Never been to Winter Park. Is the town convenient to the ski area? Can I park my car and leave it for a couple of days?

The town is Fraser, and it isn't much to speak of. It's near WP, but not really right at the mountain (not like Breckinridge). I'm sure you could find a place to leave a car for a few days at the mountain or in town.

Have you made plans yet? Big storm will be coming through, and you may start to have trouble finding tix if you haven't purchased any yet.

Winter Park has free shuttle buses running from several places in town. It actually is better than taking a car. They have a cabriolet lift from the parking lot but the bus drops you off where you would get off the cabriolet.

Nope, not taking the trip. Couldn't get plane tickets under $700 without taking my kids out of school, and I already have other hookie days planned later in the winter so that's not an option.

Glad someone is getting the snow somewhere.
