Went to grab a trail map for my son when leaving Sunapee today and was told they no longer offer them. Not sure if this is Sunapee specific or all of Vail.

Is this becoming the norm everywhere?

I was kinda bummed. As a kid my bedroom walls were plastered with trail maps from all the places I skied. Was hoping to start doing the same in his bedroom.

That would be a bummer. My college age son's room is wall papered with ski maps , posters and lift tickets

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
For some places it's a covid thing. If I already owned a trail map for that year of the mountain but still needed one to get around I'd take one and put it back at the end of the day if it was still in good shape. Or look one over at lunch then put it back. I'm doing my part to save the mountain $.02 cents hahaha.

Interesting that it's a Covid thing at some places. Seems like anything disposable would be fine.

Hasn't it been proven that the chance of catching the virus from touching something is about .000001%?

From this thread, it seems the trail map is more useful as a free wall paper than actual trail map? ;)

That’s weird. Still have them out here.

It's so much easier using a physical map than pulling out a cell phone and looking at the little screen, dealing with the touch sensitivity with gloves, and all that.
Agreed. Also I don't have a cell phone so...

I don't use trail maps much. Half the time, I can't remember which pocket I put them in.

There're usually big ones on top of each lift.

Oh yes, I don't ski with reading glasses. Can't really make out the trail names on the paper map any more.

Shawnee Peak Maine had the lift bar maps. Possibly still do. Been a few years since I have been there.

the lift chair safety bar has a map of the ski area tacked on top of it. Pretty handy.
Not a fan of that.

Makes the safety bar super heavy. I struggle to raise the bar by myself.

And on a 6 pack, those sitting at both end can't see the map anyway.

The chairs I’ve been on with the bar maps have used plastic for the map and therefore are very light. I don’t know what the problem was

Hope they come back! I still make sure to grab a map from every mountain every year.

I think it might be more that they don't want people huffing around th lodges looking for maps?
