I also like Classic Queen for the stuff they didn't put on Greatest Hits like Stone Cold Crazy, Tie Your Mother Down (HOW did that not get on GH?), and the full version of One Vision.

BTW, the Queen/Paul Rodgers concert at the Centrum... ehm... DCU in March was GREAT.

Like them all with the exception of Boston and I would add Queens 3rd album as well, damn for that matter any of their albums. But, yes, Queens first two were more rock and less pop. Also, you're choices are simple, some of the most popular, nothing wrong with that. But they're were also less popular bands that were just as good, IMO.

Slade
Foghat
Savoy Brown
Climax Blues Band
Golden Earing
Humble Pie.......

I know a lot of not as popular bands, I'd just take forever trying to list them all.

Since my choices on the hard rock band thread were disallowed maybe I can put them here.

Eric Clapton - Layla
Traffic - John Barlycorn
Blind Faith - Blind Faith
Stones - Sticky Fingers
CSN&Y - After the Gold Rush

What...there is a mistake I just realized and no one noticed it. SkiBum must be out tonight. After the Gold Rush is Neil Young. I meant to list Deja'vu for CSN&Y

Eric Clapton - Layla

sorry for being picky, but "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" was Derek and the Dominos. Clapton was a member of the band.

can't believe no one has mentioned it yet:

The Eagles - Hotel California

we could choose a wide range of Greatest Hits albums from a bunch of different bands, too, but that would be too easy.

I was not a big Eagles fan, but damn, Hotel California was a good one that instantly put them on top.

Well aware of that but many consider it an Eric Clapton album. He was IMHO way more than just a member of the band on that album.

no votes for the doors? i only have the greatest hits album, though i doubt greatest hits albums should count in a best album vote.

Good point, they've done plenty of good stuff. Guess that's the problem with these pick the best one polls, sometimes that's just plain impossible.

I cant STAND the Jim morrison. I love the music of the doors but his vocals and everything else about him kills it. Also I hate hotel california! Kinda like that scene in the taxi from the Big Lebowski

The choice for the greatest classic rock album is cleary Bowie's Ziggy Stardust

I don't know if this is the right genre... maybe closer to Rock/Blues (aka R&B?), but Classic Rock is pretty non specific...

Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble-

Couldn't Stand the Weather
