CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine -- Sugarloaf will kick off its annual Homecoming Weekend this year with a special presentation of the Fly Fishing Film Tour, a collection of short fly fishing films from locations around the globe. The film will be shown outdoors on The Beach at Sugarloaf from 8-10pm on Friday, October 8.

The Fly Fishing Film Tour features two hours of short films, submitted by filmmakers from around the world. Featuring segments from both hemispheres, this year's film includes footage from 25 different waterways in 9 different countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Mexico, and the United Sates.

According the Film Tour organizers, each film has a unique flavor and message, and while all showcase incredible footage, each has its own blend of comedy, storytelling, and some of the most impressive fish ever caught on film.

A favorite of anglers throughout the country, the Fly Fishing Film Tour has been featured in more than 90 cities in the United States this year. The Film Tour is a production of Drake magazine, a three-times-a-year fly fishing magazine featuring compelling writing and photography from throughout the world.

"We love that our tour has become the ideal venue for fans to get together to celebrate their common passions", says The Drake magazine editor Tom Bie. "Watching fans cheer, swap stories and get generally stoked for the sport we love is an awesome experience."

The film will provide a fun kick-off to the annual Homecoming Weekend celebration at Sugarloaf that marks the unofficial countdown to ski season. This year's Homecoming will also feature the world premier of Sugarloaf's new high definition film Big Mountain. Big Love. on Saturday, October 9 at 8pm.

Featuring HD skiing and snowboarding action shot at Sugarloaf during the 2009-10 season, Big Mountain. Big Love. showcases Sugarloaf's history and celebrates the unique personalities that helped to shape the resort.

Admission is free and open to all ages for the Fly Fishing Film Tour and the premier of Big Mountain. Big Love. Drinks, coffee, and refreshments will be available for purchase during both films.
