Getting a dot edu url

Alright computer folks...

I typically can find this stuff in my routine searching, but can't seem to round this one up. What is the procedure in getting a .edu url and whom do I go to register it/qualify for it.

All .edu domains have to be registered through educause. They have an application process, but I'm not sure what it entails.
