Date(s) Skied: 12/10 - 12/12

Resort or Ski Area: Jay Peak

Conditions: Powder to Ice

Trip Report: Got up to Jay Thursday night and skied until Sunday. Brief summary of Trails and lifts:

Flyer: Opened for the season on Friday. Had problems with stopping occasionally all day long on Friday. On Saturday it closed midday because of electrical problems and never reopened.

Goat: Only run open off the Flyer was Northway to Goat to Lower Quai to Interstate. Conditions were typical - Nice groomed in morning to ice in afternoon.

Beaver Pond: Had first tracks on Friday. Snow was too deep, skis were not fat enough and not enough vertical. Snow had drifted so deep in there we could not move. Took us 45 minutes to get through it. All runs after that were great and many people were just lapping Beaver Pond. The powder just would not quit.

JFK - Edge to Edge powder with powder moguls building.

Lower Everglade. Nice powder conditions.

Jet and Haynes: Typical groomed trail to ice after lunch.

Dereck - Very thin

Tinbucktu - Thin spots but skiable.

Kitz Woods - Upper section was great but lower was very sketchy.

Overall a great powder weekend until the Flyer shut down Saturday. Then just a typical eary season day.

Great weekend... too bad about the Flyer... Ain't it fun to have the only Leitner lift in North America? Now, someone had to fly from Italy to get things going again... Doppelmayr is only 3 hours away from Jay...

Lapping the Haynes and Jet got boring real quick on sunday even tough it was snowing hard all morning. Hopefully the warm stuff didn't do any damages... things got real wet for us at about 3PM yesterday. Now it's back to near freezing. I really hope we get that foot of snow this week. Now at least, the mountain will have a base to build on!
