Heading to Stowe soon, this time as a fairly newby telemarker. Haven't been there in a while, and am wondering if there's any inbounds, not-so-steep good glade runs there? Not looking for the goods, so don't worry about giving up the real spots to me.

I have Goodman's book for the backcountry/touring, but am looking for some fun, moderate stuff inbounds as well.

Nosedive Glades (on the map) are reasonably pitched and good place to start for a beginner. Still a bit early to head into the woods though.

Yeah Black Mountain in NH has some great glades to learn on as well as some pretty tough ones, same goes with Bretton Woods in NH.

....and we should extend this caution to suggest all skiers stay out of the woods until at least May 15, even if they seem choked with fresh powder. The danger is simply too great, and all those tracks you see are from people who've sold their souls to the devil. Don't be tricked into skiing where the heathen's ski !!!!

:dunce:

Mount Snow has one or two very fun low angle glades. They're over on Carinthia. They should be open after just another couple storms.

Ask a local about the chapel woods. Mellow, widely spaced, quiet, out of the way. Locals are busy testing themselves on the gnar, so they probably won't mind helping you out.

Thanks.

Are these in-bounds at Stowe? Or in the side/backcountry? If so, are they findable on the Northern Vermont Nordic Skiing trails map that Map Adventures made?
