Date(s) Skied: Saturday March 12, 2011
Ski Area: Pico Peak, VT
Conditions: Dust on Crust
Trip Report:
Wasn't really expecting much when we headed north this weekend but was pleasantly surprised with the conditions. Drove up to Ludlow on Friday night and headed north towards Pico on Saturday morning not expecting the best of ski days but as luck would have it the scattered flurries that started in Ludlow upon our departure turned into a full on squall the further we moved north. By the time we arrived at Pico a few inches had been deposited and it continued to snow!
We booted up in the empty lodge right in front of the main fire place, stowed our bags and headed out on the hill. The snow was variable and it it took a few runs to locate the best snow regardless I was amazed how well the hill had recovered after the nasty late week weather.
Pretty much skied the whole mountain over the course of the day and surprisingly the Giant Killer had the best snow! Anyway, regardless of the snow conditions I do love the vibe at Pico!! A big mountain with a tight knit community that has tons of history....how can you go wrong!! Duh winning!!
Here's some pics....
Followed up the great turns at Pico with stop at the Inn @ Long Trail for some apres ski! Loved the VT half and half......Guinness and Long Trail.....Yum!
