Rain and warm temperatures

In watching the 10 day forecasts for the PA and NY ski areas, the 1 warm day always has the precipitation, all the 9 other cold days have nothing. The cold air move in often a few hours after the rain ends. Is this a cruel joke or a scientific phenomenon?

Its only November plenty of time for the cold to set in. We haven’t even had our annual Christmas rainstorm yet.

Rain on man made, fast and wet. Then it turns to boiler-plate ice. Not much out there faster than that. What's not to like?

Ice is a good start.

If a mountain doesn't lose all frozen then this event could be a long term gain. Sunday is when it freezes.
