Date skied: December 13, 2008

Resort: Sugarbush—Lincoln Peak.

Conditions: Saturday: P/PP.

Weather: Saturday: Bluebird day, cold. Highs in the single digits maybe (?)

2008-2009 Report #: 6

Report: Long overdue, but it has been busy here and I have had no time. I finally managed to get out for a nice XC ski last night...but anyways, Saturday was a nice day. Powder on Hot Shot and Waterfall was really nice. Organgrinder was mint. The snow set up really well. I did at least 3 or 4 runs down it. Wow. Nice grooming and nice snow. It was a nice groomed granular that stuck to the slope, but skied fast and well. No ice. Murphy's was too choppy and too much of a glaze. Twist skied well...bony down below though. Spring Fling was nice as well.

In the afternoon I headed over to Castlerock and did Middle Earth first and then Castlerock Run/Cotillion second (both favorite runs). I must say for once the latter was the better run. Middle Earth was quite rough around Jaws and below, but upper was nice.

I'll shut up and let the picks do the talking:

A little rough on Jaws....

Cotillion:

And I attempted a spin down Deeper Sleeper, but man, that was thin and downright dangerous in spots. There was no rope and there were tracks, but I concluded afterwards that it must have been closed.

After skiing, I was allowed to preview the special display of artifacts from Sugarbush's past. Some great stuff...photos, memorabilia, etc. Very nice. Maybe another thread? That is if folks want to see that stuff....

Nice pics from last Saturday. Looks like you hit Hotshot / Waterfall early as it looked well skied off late Sat / Sunday.

Yes, it got skied off or down to grass in many spots very quickly. It was mighty tasty though while it lasted...nice soft bumps. Bottom part was slick from snowmaking.
