LAKE PLACID, New York — When the Nature Valley Freestyle Cup returns to the Lake Placid Olympic region January 20-22, it will mark the final opportunity for many of the world's top moguls and aerial skiers to qualify for their respective Olympic teams.

The Whiteface / Lake Placid meet is one of the longest on the World Cup tour. The event begins and ends with the moguls competitions on the Wilderness trail at Whiteface Friday and Sunday, January 20 and 22, beginning at 9:45 am daily. The finals start at 1:30 pm each day, with the awards ceremonies at 3:30 pm.

The aerial skiers take flight in a spectacular night event with live music by the indie band Billionaire Boys Club, prize giveaways, sponsor swag, plus radio personalities Johnny Utah and Matt Reno. The festivities kick off at 6:30 pm Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Kodak Sports Park located on the edge of Lake Placid. Help send the athletes off to Torino with a BANG! Join The Wizard, The BUZZ and 5000 of your closest friends as we attempt to set a new world record for a nighttime aerial event in Lake Placid – 5001 screaming fans! The women will go huge at 7:30 pm with the men going even bigger at 7:50 pm. The evening culminates with fireworks at 8:40 pm.

When the Nature Valley contests end Sunday afternoon, U.S. coaches will huddle to start making final picks for the Olympic team that will compete Feb. 10-26 in Torino.

More than 140 athletes from 22 nations will train at both venues beginning January 17.

For the complete Lake Placid / Whiteface experience, the Ultimate Winter Passports includes a three-day Whiteface lift ticket, half-day cross-country ski pass, a one-time admission to each ORDA venue, plus ice skating on the Olympic Speed Skating Oval as well as other offers and discount coupons. Adult passports are $163 while junior and teen rates are available. For the non-skiers, the Kodak Winter Passport is available for $25 per person and includes admission to every ORDA venue as well as activities like skating on the speed skating oval. Both passports may be used during the Nature Valley Freestyle Cup.
