Ok, I take what I said earlier back, its not Warren Miller, hes old enough to be him probably, but it definatly says Klaus Obermeyer on the pics, sorry for my stupidity. I read the camera guys name, but not the title of the picture!

That is not Warren Miller, at least according to the caption. The guy in the red is Warren Miller and he used to narrate/appear in his movies:

I like most ski movies. Stuff in poor taste may be a draw back. Kind of like I find it hard to have a bad day of skiing. Warren Miller is one of my favorites. I see his movies all the time on one of the Starz channels. Great break from summer.

So, What films are people watching now to get them hyped up about skiing, I need to rent some movies some time, and wondered what ones are good. I like the steep and deep movies, of course Ive seen the old warren miller movies, I think his older ones are better than his new ones, more style. Although I haven't seen his newest film, I know that Warren Himself has retired and left his crew do all the work.

I still would like to find out what happened to the clips and pictures that they took last winter over at Whaleback, they got some nice stuff. I heard a rumor that they are putting together a small mountian movie pretty soon, and thats why they showed up at Whaleback. Can't wait to see what appens there.

Here is a related thread. It talks about a few different providers of ski porn.

for the record...I still watch Warren Miller movies and I am not ashamed to say it.

he's the FOUNDER of ski movies...without ole Warren and his trusty camera...there would likely not be any Matchstick prod, or TGR, etc....Warrens the king....even if the movies are sellout now.. (and yeah I know he sold it all off)...I have a bunch of them on DVD and still pop em in for the occassional stoke..

:D

Sorry, that is not Tucks. There are too many evergreen trees pokiing out of the snow. Tucks has a few evergreens but also a lot of other bushy scrub as well.

SUCK is strong word.. I love all ski movies... if I feel like a fun documentary I go for WM if I just want hardcore skiing I go for TGR, MSP etc.. Warren brought us ski movies so let's not be too hard on him!
suck is a strong word. but in this case, it is absolutely accurate in describing the films since warren miller sold his company. all credit due to warren miller for starting something big, but WME IS NOT warren miller. warren miller hasn't made a ski film in a long time and last year the narration wasn't even original for the new film. and while i respect warren miller for being the founder of ski film as we know it (ski movies were being made as far back as at least 1930s in silent film... hannes schneider himself stared in a few films, so to suggest warren miller created ski movies is not accurate), to suggest matchstick, TGR, etc. wouldn't be around without warren is silly. of course ski movies would have been produced without warren miller.

dear god VB, what school do you go to? It says the guy in the photos name 5 times in that page.

At first glance that picture looks like Tucks, but it way to big and there are little trees which Tucks doesn't have.

Also, I agree the new WM films are quite sucky. I'm not sure whether I'm watching a Jeep commercial or a ski film.

Well, I finally have to disagree with you here Riv.

While recent films by WME may suck when compared to say, MHF, for example, but on a more absolute scale, I'd still rather watch WME films than a great majority of anything else ever laid into film

I'm not picky when it comes to ski porn.

I didn't suggest that TGR etc. wouldn't be around.. I simply stated that Warren Miller brought us ski movies... and I love all ski movies..even the ones that aren't great... if they are there I will watch them...and enjoy them...simply because ...it's skiing.....sigh.

On second and subsequent looks you are right it really doesnt look like tucks. I shouldve pulled the post right away....guess im just jonesing.

As for the like of Matchstick, and TGR..I think without the popularity of Warren Millers early start in ski movies that they truly MIGHT NOT be around...I don't think its "silly" as you say.. I think its probably pretty accurate, however since we can't go back and reverse it we'll never REALLY know. Just MHO...Warren is the king of ski movies.

I also agree that they havent made a good movie in YEARS...basically since Warren stopped working with them altogether. All my DVD's are prior to his departure.

I thought so also at first glance, but then glanced again and noticed those same trees...but if you look really really quick..it does kinda resemble Tucks bowl...

I thought it was NISSANS?? Ha...

Impact was Jeep. I think Higher Ground had Nissans. I don't know why, but for some reason I love those Nature Valley granola bars....
