Bummer. Truly closes a chapter in American rock 'n roll. Nice to see that Patti Smith closed the dump, though. And they are planning on taking the place apart piece by piece (including the urinals - yow) and moving it all to a new location Las Vegas (!!). Man, what I would have given to have seen the Ramones there about 1978......

I saw the Ramones there back in the day.. Had to be either 79 or 80...
Great times... Really opened my eyes to music.. Under 18 - drinking in NYC... Checking out some great music..

I think Andy Z was there too...

What's sad is that they're moving it to Vegas.

Some things just need to be let go. CBGB's was an institution, but its time has passed. Let it die with some dignity.

Yet, I think I was there too. :) Was some good times, for me it was from about 75
