No...not the bikini kind. *sheesh*

But, given the current jones-ing and cooler temps....I finally pulled the skis out of storage and stacked them in the sun to warm the bases. After about 10 or 15 minutes, I loaded em up with a spare block of wax from the tune kit.

Nice Nice. Melty.

Dialed the bindings down (finally) and put em back in the corner.

I had them stored in the basement with the dehumidifyer running. They looked great.

Mmmmmm...summer wax. *droool*

i really dont have to do a summer wax on my boards because i was everyday that i ride in winter. so my board gets like 100 or so waxes a season so the base if fully saturated. but i give the edges a onc over so i don't get any rust.

i really don't trust anybody else to do my tunes for me but that comes from my days of racing. my first coach made us learn how to tune and way so that we couls always make adjustments in the morning before we hit the hill. if you are a snowboarder waxing is the difference between gliding flats and traverses or walking. i love blowing by the jib bonks on flats. one kid finaly asked me how a am able to keep my speed up. i told him to look at the difference between his base and mine.

Put a nice thick storage coat on at the end of the season. My vice and tuning gear have been put away to make room for the miter saw for the summer. :(

Went into the basement to put some dog food away after shopping. This thread made me go check my skis to make sure the wax was holding out and the edges weren't oxidizing.

I feel like I've helped someone. :>

I'd like to think I'll get into tuning my own skis...but I just don't have the time.

The work day is too long. Too much to do when I get time.

I have a convenient edge tool and I use paste wax between tunes, I usually put the wax on in a shop (@ work...during lunch the day before I head out) after the skis have warmed up. (enough prepositional phrases in that for ya?)

I admire the folks who commit to handling their own gear...but I don't aspire to do it myself. I am careful about who does my gear though. I call ahead and make an appointment.

it takes like hour to do four boards with cooling time for wax. plus its a great excuse to drink beer.

I've got a catalog from Arctech and occasionally cruise the tuning gear page.

I've got the work bench...but I'm certain the smell of the wax would ripple the waters of marital bliss. I don't need any more things in that category...but I keep thinking about it. :>

You need to install a vent fan. Got a fridge down there?

Moving to a new place so the tuning set up is going from my bedroom to the kitchen (only place in the apartment with hardwood floors). Adding brushes, files, file guides and a bench to the set up. I reckon the summer wax comes off, and the bindings get cranked back up, in two months

I do my waxing and minor tuning in the kitchen as well. As long as I do Tams skis, she doesn't seem to mind me doing it there. I have no heat in the garage so it makes it tough on very cold days.
