Thinking about a one these to fill in quiver. Pro and Cons to these skis would be helpful. I have not skied either one, but guys at Ski Haus swear by the 88's.

I am thinking 175cm in 88's and 178cm in Mythic Riders

Get The Scott Missions that are on TRamdock right now. Can't beat that price.

888 The Way to go

Get the 177 Elan 888 They are a great ski. I wanted a pair ever since I saw Plake cruising on them at the '07 Stratton On Snow Demo. My buddy Stan who lives up at Sugarbush full time bought a pair after he skied mine. Stan spends a lot of time in the trees.

By the way I got lucky last spring and had a great powder day at Stratton. Check it out.

PS: I know where you can get a good deal on a pair

Are you saying Head is the wrong thing to add to the quiver? ;)

I would never say that! However the 888 is such a nice ski. It got great reviews and came back from last season unchanged. How often does that happen? Besides I know several people who love theirs, one guy even telemarks on his.

You should have seen Plake zipping around on them. Off course he'd look good skiing on anything.

I am partial to Head skis. I own 4 pair all ready. I need to fill in a gap in the quiver. It is between these two only.

Oh, that's right!
I skied on a pair of those last year in deep pow at Stowe!
They are great skis!
I'd get another pair!
I'd also consider a pair of Blizzard Cronus, but since Puck it wants HEAD and its his quiver we're talking about..........well, you know. Let him get Head for his quiver:D

....

skidmarks,
Nice video.....but it's Stratton huh?...ROTFL....<-- shows my lack of Stratton trail_knowledge! ...but the filename includes "jay", that's why I mentioned..

A little plug for the Mythics(Riders)......they seem to be able to vary their turn size pretty easily, at any speed...much like the Watea/(*previous name*). Granted they're not quite the rippers as many are.....but they seem able to play anywhere on a powder day...think they have a depth-limit...but they're good enough for NewEngland in close quarters...or maybe cuz my 172s might be a little short;-),..truth is..they were under $300;-)

Strange but Stratton of all places.........
Way off to the side beyond the old Kidderbrook chair. Had to ride 2 lifts per lap but it was worth it.

No other tracks all day long!!

Hey Skidmarks, I liked the Stratton video. I too grew up skiing Mt. Tom in Holyoke. I think Stratton has a lot of good glade runs. I find more each year I go. The area off the old Kidderbrook chair, was that past Test Pilot? Past the marked boundary that they have in there? I thought Test Pilot was too much single track, does it open up past that? I have other questions about areas in that video. I'll PM you about them.

...Why I was a little surprised..

Honestly,
I've only taken one lesson there(a Blue Groomer) in addition to just stepping outside after Greg Hoffman would get me aligned or have bootwork done. NEVER....did any looking for nice snow/trees... Used to take off...and be on my way back to Bethel or Sugarloaf country...

Below and Beyond

The glades are pretty flat and single track but get nice further down and to skiers right; they open right up and get steeper. 30+ years ago Stratton had started an expansion in that area that got stopped for some reason. They had even poured some lift footings. When I worked up there in the mid 80's we poached the runs a few times with the Ski Patrol. The modern Kidderbrook area covers most of that terrain today (sans chairl lift) but I think some of the real old stuff is out in those woods we were skiing last March 28th.

I'd love to find out more.
