Here are the top 10 Eastern Rankings:
1. Mont Tremblant, QC
2. Smugglers’ Notch, Vt.
3. Stowe, Vt.
4. Holiday Valley, NY
5. Whiteface Mountain, N.Y.
6. Killington, Vt.
7. Loon, N.H.
8. Bretton Woods, N.H.
9. Stratton, Vt.
10. Okemo, Vt.

Always fun to see these rankings. Maybe 3 or 4 of these places would be considered "skiers" mountains. Rankings are for "resorts" which is much different than mountains.

I'm tired of seeing Tremblant #1.

That's a good point and one that is often overlooked when people complain about most of the rankings that come out.

What, no Gore?!?!?

don't talk about Sugarloaf, either. Totally ridiculous. I think Ski Magazine readers are looking for something a little different than I would when they go on ski vacations. That's why Deer Valley and Vail always win out West (with occasional wins by Whistler and Aspen to mix it up).

I'll never understand the love Smuggs gets with it's crappy lifts and lodges. It's got some great terrain for certain, but in order for me to vote it top 5 in the east, the lifties better be hot and giving reach arounds.

I have never been there, but I assume it is the lodging, accommodations, and kids programs.

I can't believe that Sunday River isn't on the list.

How in the world can Smugglers’ Notch be number two, unless this is a list of longest long and slowest lefts.

And where is Jay?

Can't the Zone do its own survey.

My guess is that the list isn't even honest attempt at any sort of top 10, be it for their readership, resorts as a whole, whatever, but a collection of 10 different resorts that are decent in their own way. An article with "terrain great" after "terrain great" would get boring. They need something different to say about each place.

Looks like Stratton once again cracked the top 10 also. Funny...I thought Whiteface would have ranked higher this year with the added terrain on Lookout Mt.

Yeah....right that would have been my hope too. I have not been to Tremblant in several years, but I've read that the place has gone downhill in terms of infracture and customer service. To big things as far as people who vote in this poll.

I'm sure there is some great lodging options (maybe even great accommodations too  ;) ) and I've known plenty of people involved with the kids programing and it is for certain a HUGE focus.

....but, everything else there is a hockey locker room in an old school. Stinks. Not old with character, old and stinky.

Killer terrain, but more for experts than families. There are easily 20 resorts in the Northeast with better 'family' terrain.

Just like Cape Cod, I don't 'get it'

Yeah, I realize I was a bit repetitive there :) What I meant to get at was aside from the actual buildings/rooms you sleep in, they also, I think, have lots of activities to go on for patrons of all ages. Bad word choice.
