We had to investigate...

$15.50, a scenic drive up the Auto Road, and a whopping 20 yard walk revealed this snowfield at 6,000 feet.

Oh yeah..."the World's Worst Weather" took a day off!

And don't said you had to "walk the dog." Some local skiing celebrities brought theirs for the ride! (A member of the "Redneck Rippers" from "Head for the Hills" and his canine companion, "Sir Aspen," a survivor of a Tux avalanche!)

Yes, there were snowboarders and we all were smiling!

And yet you left this all.....

To snowmonster and me!

Don't blame the girlfriend/wife, because she likes to ski too!

Good stoke-that is what this place is all about! I earned some turns today, cut the shit out of my legs postholing, messed up my neck-it was awesome but sure could have used a road to get me in!

Thanks for the company, TB. Nice photos, by the way. =) The weather report here in Boston says that the MWV will hit the 90s tomorrow. Yikes! Hope that snow holds for another week. I have some unfinished business in the Great Gulf.

Just to clarify: Auto Road rates are $23/car plus $8 for each passenger. So, SM+TB = $31 or $15.50/skier.

snoseek, what happened? Where were you hiking? Loveland Pass, I hope.

Stupid stupid me for starting too late and not wearing pants or at least gaitors. Touring bindings=broken. Me=too poor to buy new ones right now.

I'm nursing a Vodka o.j. and had to dip into the emergency vicoden. I hate pain killers really!

Jones Pass, it skis well right through most of the summer. Really just the backside of Loveland, sort of. Postholing in shorts. Got a late start and the snow got real soft while hiking. My pain is diminishing quickly! Gonna go get some more tomorrow!

It is about 400ish when it is fully in. Longer when you can get all the way down to the Alpine Garden. I suspect it is less than that right now based on the pics. Bumps on Mount Wash are teh suck. East Snowfields are a dish best served with a smooth surface.

DHS: believe it or not, but there were some bumps forming thanks to the traffic.

SM: thanks. It is $23 per car, $8 per extra rider.

As to vert, I'm terrible at that....maybe 250-300 or so.

Looks quite similar to what my right lower leg/sock/shoe looked like after my mountain bike ride this past Sunday! In my book, the shedding of some blood is what makes the difference between a memorable day and a MEMORABLE day :lol:
