So I was checking out the Jiminy website to see if they'd posting anything about anticipated/target opening date...and found this lil nugget:

http://www.jiminypeak.com/mountain-information

"Due to the offensive nature of the graphics on the Burton Primo & Love snowboard lines, these snowboards are not permitted at Jiminy Peak"

I don't snowboard so I'm not sure what this is all about. But on the surface, it sounds rather retarded. Do they have swastikas and goatse all over them or something?

It's just funny, the idea that a liftie might be checking your board to make sure it's family friendly.

It's like when the skis came out with a silhouette of a naked chick on them... Places were trying to ban that too..

It's their ski area - I guess they can do what they choose...

I just Googled those boards. The Primo has graphics of horrific accidents involving the hand; cutting off a finger, staple gun to the hand etc. The Love has pics of a naked woman cleverly hiding her private parts. The pics of the woman look like real pics and to cartoonish or silhouette like.

Not sure about the Love line but I remember reading something last year that some people were pissed cause there's a Primo board with self mutilation graphics on it.

Parents with young kids, target market for Jiminy (and most ski areas for that matter), some I'm sure have issues with the graphics, and on some level. With an almost 5 year old and an almost 7 year old in my household, having looked at the pictures of those board graphics, I can see where some concerns could arise.

I'm guessing that Jiminy received some complaints/concerns from some of their customers and chose to take action that they deem appropriate. Are they correct or not, well I'm guessing that some of one's descision will be based on one's parental status and the age of one's offspring

Truthfully, I don't much care for how outrageous graphics have gotten on skis/boards over the passed decade.

I prefer something clean and simple. Less is more. I think Kastle has the right idea.

I mean think about it, do you want drive a car around with a Playmate painted on it or someone staple gunning their hand??? pretty stoopit if you ask me.

As for Jimminy banning the boards? Their mountain, they can do whatever they choose. They're probably more concerned with the behavior of whatever idiot would buy such a board in the first place and are effectively cleansing the gene pool of their customer base.

Weren't these boards banned last year?

Yup, old news. And certainly their choice. I can understand that if they're trying to foster an environment for families with children of all ages, these graphics could potentially pose problems with that image. Personally, I rarely notice what's on boards but some people do get their panties in a bunch about it.

So they are really going to turn business away becasue of the board someone is riding? DumbDumbDumbDumbDumb

IMO the boards are the equivelent of driving a bright red camaro with "stud" for your liscence plate.....if ya know what I mean.

I agree, I don't have kids, but would care about what kind of crap they are being exposed to and where.

I don't buy a new board very often, but when I do Iook for a board that is simple in artistic design and effective. I don't need some retarded artistic work, let alone stupid playmate or a hand being stapled on the bottom of my board to make feel "cool" or "different". It cetainly isn't going to make me ride any better. It always cracked me up with kids would "rebel" and say they didn't want to conform, so they would wear baggy jeans, go goth, wear skinnies, etc, when in turn they were in fact conforming to a large segment of the populus.

It's probably more of a justification that they can tell someone to get out of line if someone gets "offended" by said board and makes a stink to the liftie.

I'm thinking most of the time, the deck will be partially covered in snow so there won't be much to see.
