The Inn At Gore is at the foot of the access road. They are cheap and the bar and restraunt are decent. Nothing fancy but pretty cheap.

The Barking Spider in town is a good place to get a drink. The lady behind the bar is an attention getter.

Laura's has a pool table and seems to have a decent crowd on the weekends.

was there today, over half the mt shut down, the skiing was good, didnt spend much time on too many trails but what we did ski were fine,,some woods were better than others,of the map stuff was the best.more stuff opening tomorrow, with a chance of some snow, btw it snowed all day yesterday, mayb 7 inches followed by a bit of rain.the mt still has a ton of snow, not a bare spot to b found.all in all a very good day for what was open.so come out and enjoy, cause the season just got another day shorter.:p

Two possible explanations: (1) they seem to close lower-traffic terrain pods midweek to save money on operations; (2) they are the most conservative decent-sized resort I have ever skied in terms of opening terrain with borderline conditions.

I'd agree with point number one.

In my experience Gore is pretty good about opening terrain on thin cover. Last season in December (2009) we skied the trees the whole month on under 35 inches of snow.

And here's Topridge opening on a Sunday - November 28, 2010:

I thought it skied great, but some folks were mortified that you'd open a trail with grass showing through.

deciding between Gore and MRG this weekend

Looking at the forecast it not going to be that warm this weekend. Gore is warmer and has better grooming.

I am in North Creek today and they have a lot of snow on the ground. Should be a good weekend here.

Can speak to MRG I have no idea what it is like over there.

Maybe they open with thin cover but not thick cover.

On March 12, this run was closed:

As were these trees (and every other on-map gladed area):

Crust becomes corn with some warm temps (lower mountain had them) and a little skier traffic (would have had them without the ropes). Gore looked like a really fun mountain to me, but most of the interesting terrain was closed. I had a fun day, but I was frustrated and disappointed by the closures.
