Is it worth going to Gore Mountain in NY this year?

I live in western mass so it would take like 3 hours to get there. Same as some places in upper VT.

It looks like Gore has a bunch of glades and interesting terrain. Is it actually steep and fun for a backcountry / advanced style skiier to make the trip to?

Or should I just go to MRG or Sugarbush more times

I like trying new places!

North vermont gets more snow then gore, but gore has some great glades and steeps stuff off the high peaks quad, steeper then anything in southern VT

I love going to Gore. But if trees are what you are after, then you will have to wait to go. They need the snow to get the trees good.

What I love about their trees is that they are not super steep, but still allow you to carry good speed through the trees.

I'm headed there this weekend (my sister has a house in North Creek) and should have a report on conditions when I get back. With good snow it's a great place to ski, lots of interesting terrain and woods, and rarely crowded.

Still planning on hitting Gore in combination with Whiteface in March. Hopefully it snows before then!

I am thinking of a combo trip as well..

Although it needs to be timed so that I can ski the slides @ Whiteface..

never got the chance to do that and its real high on my list

Since Gore has 9 sides like you said, and so many glades.. do you think I should make it an overnight 2 day trip?

I would like to have enough time to experience all the good terrain.

Keep in mind I only have enough cash for a couple overnight trips this year and one will be Jay Peak and I want to make the other one possibly Sugarloaf USA if I can swing it

alpinezone has a special deal for Sugarloaf, will save you tons of $$ so you can spend elsewhere.
