Seems like the closest matchups so far are BW vs. Smuggs and Stratton vs. Sunapee... I personally voted BW and Stratton. I know that I will get :flame: for voting Bretton Woods over Smuggs but I've never skied Smuggs and I really enjoy BW's glades and some of the mid-mountain ungroomed blue runs.

There are some way out of balance match-ups there. Voted for the underdogs.

Overall, I'd agree with most of the results so far. I would have had Burke over Attitash and Cannon over Killington.

And Saddleback got a real tough seeding by drawing Stowe in the second round. Both Stowe and Saddleback (as well as Cannon) should be in the final 8.

I'm kind of surprised that Mad River would win over Loon in the Boston market. Snowboarders aren't going to vote for MRG.

I'm curious how the Sunday River vs Sugarloaf vote will go. Sunday River is the last sub-200" annual natural snowfall resort on the list. ....or at least I think Wildcat gets more than 200". I'm glad to see people are voting for the places that have natural snow instead of rock-hard groomed snowmaking trails.

I must say that for most part most of the original matchups were so uneven. I mean how do you compare MRG to Jiminy, Stowe to Pat's Peak, Sunday River vs Black, or I really enjoy the Jay vs Wawa matchup myself haha.I feel it was kinda setup to have SR vs SL seeing as they both are in the "Wescott" bracket.

It's a very clever way to do a poll. It's interesting to look back at the finished rounds and see how many votes each place got.

It's also making me realize I haven't skied at some of the places I'm voting for on reputation. Gotta suck it up and do some of those longer drives.

AS mentioned above, the original match-up were determined by seeding from this ranking poll:

Kinda March Madness style but starting with 32 teams.

Some races have been surprises for me. I thought Okemo would trounce Wildcat. I guess just like March Madness, you just never know when an upset will sneak up.

Loaf v. River - These two areas have a long history of competition. It abated somewhat when both mountains were acquired by ASC now Boyne. However, the infamous "if you were at Sunday River, you'd be at the summit" sign still hangs at Gepetto's at the Loaf. Last year, NECN ran a Best of New England poll and Sugarloaf won that round. As of Wednesday evening, 1000 votes separate them. I'm thinking the Loaf won but I wouldn't discount River fans just yet.

It seems more often than not, people are voting the quality of the skiing over the amenities.

I can't really argue over the final 4. Although Bush, Loaf, Stowe, and Jay are all resorts (as opposed to areas) I have absolutely no problem with them representing the very best of New England skiing.

I'm having a hard time with the final 4 in my head.

Sugarbush vs Sugarloaf -- this is the ultimate question that I've been trying to decide upon for years.....

Stowe vs Jay? I think I'll pick Jay based on the best day of my life on snow.

I'm having a hard-time too. Kind of like wondering which cheerleader to take to the prom. Coincidentally, these are my top 4 mountains in the East.

A few things:

I'm surprised that: Stowe, Loaf, Jay and Bush are your top 4 in the East.

I'm not surprised that you would mentioned that it was like "Kind of like wondering which cheerleader to take to the prom". :spin:

For the record; Stowe and Loaf are my favorites in the East (which includes NY and QC). Jay and Bush are behind a few places like MRG, WF, Smuggs.
