Hell of a ride last night from Lake George to Jersey. 5+ hours for what is usually a 3 hour run. Must have hit every lightning storm that came through with torrential rain and bolts flying all around. Flooded out lane just north of Newburg and lots of construction which I hope they complete before ski season. Love I-87 for where it gets me but that was just brutal.

I was nearby visiting my mom; funnel cloud spotted about 3 miles from her and there was definite rotation in the clouds for a while.

It does cover a LOT of terrain! ...often with the weather to match. Fun times, I-87, from north of Troy(NY) to Lake George on Friday nights....when the traffic was far more sparse than as I bet it is today....but what fun it must be now in some of the cars out there....:spin:

Sounds like winter when I normally get stuck on the mass pike

Speaking of the Pike, there doesn't seem to be the usual summer break in traffic (during the commute) this year. People not taking as much vacation?

Turning this into a general traffic bitching thread.

Speaking of summer traffic issues, not that too many people on AZ use I-395 in Eastern, CT (A.K.A. the Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun Expressway ;) ) but just yesteday the CT DOT started an estimated 2 to 3 month long project that will be operating 22 hours a day to repave just over 11 miles of both the North and Southbound lanes in the middle section of the state from basicaly where Rte 138 intersects 395 on upto where Rte 6 intersects 395. The local paper in an article they ran yesteday said to expect delays! So if you're going to a show at the Casino's leave a few extra minutes

My daughter texted from the Albany area Sunday night asking whether she should drive home to NJ then or wait til morning. I checked the intellicast radar & saw those storms heading for the Thruway. Told her to wait. I'm very relieved she did!

Btw, I learned about intellicast here on AZ- thanks to whomever it was who told us. I use it a lot.

Alex...USE those tires and the vehicle's engineering and enjoy the vehicle's abilities....they're a lot more than just made to be admired for their looks... (But no alcoholic beverages..)

Steve:

No problems with the vehicle. Dodge Durango with nice big Goodyear's had no problem with the conditions, just glad this trip I was not towing the boat. The amount of cars combined with the weather and construction zones was more of a problem. It was as crowded as the Garden State Parkway heading back fro the Jersey Shore. I probably shouldn't be, but am amazed at how many people head north of the City in the summer. I love LG but its not a secret. Hope the trip with the boat (later this summer) will be smoother.
