Trista Chiarulli, Marketing & Communications Manager at Hunter Mountain, has agreed to participate in the 2012 AlpineZone Ski Area Challenge!

The AlpineZone Challenge is your chance to offer up questions, suggestions or praise to the people who run the mountains in the northeast. For more information on the challenge itself, please see the stickied post at the top of the forum.

We will pick ten of the questions asked here and submit them for review and response, and post them in the Challenge area when complete!

Caveats: we may edit/change your question for grammar, tone, or something similar. Questions may be merged. If we don't get to all the questions, we will encourage followup from the representatives, but no promises.

Please be respectful as well to those answering questions - please refrain from asking specifics about skier visit numbers, financials, demographic information, etc. as these may be confidential to the mountain.

Note, we ran this thread last year; however we didn't get the responses in time to post. So it's been a few years since we have had input from Hunter!

Ask away!

No shit, I just talked to her about a month ago asking about participation and she said she was in, but I didn't launch the questions yet. I may have missed that. Please hold while I find out what is going on :)

I saw that she got hired to work for a resort in Alaska a few weeks ago on someone's Facebook page I believe.

I remember some of the questions from last year that were never answered -
The bathrooms at the Summit - when are they going to be fixed, cleaned etc...
The floor in Colonel's Hall - people fall everyday on it - when is it going to be covered with something? Even saw folks fall there during Mt. Jam!

& new
why do the big lift ticket purschaser get more benefits that Gold Pass Holders. There is no tubing for GP, GP in the past received 1 free lesson, taken away this year but the BLP has one. The festival tickets were reduced this summer to 1 per festival. Do you realize how much $$ we spend at an all day festival? Big mistake there, a lot of folks were really ticked on that.
Why do you pick skiers in your ads that have awful form?
Are you going to have a PA system that someone can understand at this years passholder party? Last year you cut back on the free drinks - what is in store this year?

Thanks!!!!!! See you soon!!!

The six pack. The chair is to low or the new wooden floor is to high, always getting the back of my calf's pinched between top of boot and the bottom of chair. The wooden floor stops to soon when you are loading, should be about a foot longer.
Scottie's at top is top notch food, but the benchs being set up right where the line forms is dangerous.

Yes - fix the clocks & the water fountains. Oh and a clock you can see is important. The one on the outside of the base lodge is about 9" & worthless. There used to be a huge clock there that you could actually see.

The water fountain in Colonels Hall has been broken for years! and now the one outside of it is also broken.

The video screen at the 6 pack is always out of date. Events have been over for weeks, but they are still streaming.

If it helps, here are the questions from last year; as others said I am sure some of them still apply --> http://forums.alpinezone.com/showth...allenge-2011-Jessica-Pezak-of-Hunter-Mountain

I would say most questions with the exception of the West side quad and new trails )they are opening a glade trail on the westside they are all still the same. Nothing changed in the year.

Just went on the website, no passholder party noted. Called the mountain & was told it was Oct 13th, which is the same date as a beer & wine festival. Can that be?? Pretty bad scheduling if so. I also noticed that the Oct 14th Beer, Wine & Wing festival is gone. Just another day of confusion @ Hunter. Nothing listed as happening from October 13th on.

C'mon RichT, ya' ever do any skiing in backcountry where you can't drop down and drive into a Starbucks or Burger King every hour.....Get a friggin' watch and WEAR IT!..;-) Maybe some day it'll save your life....when you give yourself enough time to build a little shelter for the night.... Not defending anyone, but jeez...

1. Hunter always seems to be doing snowmaking improvements, is there anything in store for this year?

2. Obviously, the West Side Quad is a great change, but I have a "planned" map from when the KMC was under construction that also included new trails, are they still in the works at some point in the future, and if so can you give us any idea of when?

It's there now & I got an email last week.
But - how can they have a beer festival & the passholder party in the base lodge at the same time? they say there will be prizes, but you could never hear them announce the names before and now there will be all the beef fest patrons ...

There are hundreds of little kids with season passes - should we really be taking them to the mountain during a beer festival????????

We all think this is just their way of keeping attendance down and saving money. How could they possibly control free food access, discount drinks....... this is ________. I want to go to see what really happens and how they cheap out again, but I can't not take the kids........and I can't take kids to a beer festival........

I don't think a whole lot has happened this summer up there..
Except the removal of the old Z lift and maybe some fixing of snowmaking pipes...

Took a walk down Clairs a couple weeks ago - it's awesome without the chair towers...

West side - What are they doing to improve the safety hazard at the merge for the quad? Last season Anapurna and Westway weren't open at all and it was a disaster.

Did they remove the entire lift tower, or leave the cement base.
