The former "Sky-Chair" to the Summit is on the video at 5:04-5:14 or so. Very interesting.

Yes indeed. It is very interesting to see what it looked like and where it was. In some ways it made a lot of sense...especially on wind days since it looks like the lift line was oriented NW --> SE or so.

Yeah, but check out the interesting trail names and other features there that are no more. You're absolutely right though that in the large scheme of things it is the same.

Never seen that, that's pretty neat. I'm especially impressed by how well they were skiing powder with what would definitely be regarded as primitive equipment by today's standards
That's a small snippet of the 27 minute one I found earlier this fall with some new material at the end. Very interesting.

Exactly. All you new hires that think you can't ski powder on skinny skiis don't know what it is you don't know. Look at the footage from :55 to 1:30, it looks just like the motion of today. There's even an exuberant jump at 1:20. Skis over 100mm wide and rocker just make it easier to float. Float means you're on it, not in it. Deep powder skiing is all about skiing in it, not on it. In other words, once you learn how to manage the center of pressure, you no longer need to keep your tips up. You ski in it with tips submerged.
