Speaking of communication from the mountain, it appears that the replacement part is on its way from France!

Although Saturday was not ideal with long lines on the service road, Am Ex, and Ursa, it's been snowing so much, this season, 'm going to have to re-learn how to ski on boilerplate next season :).

do you think Sat will be a mob scene? Or manageable? I mostly stick to Ursa and Snow Bowl chairs...

Comfy temps and good weather predicted for Saturday and all of the snow that fell along the I-95 corridor where the masses tend to reside earlier this week. That tends to be a recipe for healthy crowds

Last Saturday, I spent a lot of time at the bottom of Black Bear waiting on the singles line for Ursa. I think I averaged maybe two runs an hour so about 15-20 minutes on the line. Didn't try Snow Bowl. Did the runs off Shooting Star which was much shorter although not attended at times. It wasn't a mob scene, just long lines consistent with holiday weekends.

Unfortunately, no gondola again this weekend.

Do they set up light stands on generators for this?
They have in the past.

I believe it's the 24hrs of Stratton charity fundraiser this coming weekend. Which historically raised a bunch of $$ for local charities/organozations as well as having a very full field of participants

I had to bow out twice during a great February but should be able to hit it hard to the end here. Sounds like the gondola should be back in business before the weekend.

Really nice sunny low wind day yesterday. Gondola opened after lunch but it was a perfect day for riding the lifts. Sunbowl lot was pretty rocking at the opening so didn’t park close to the lodge. Started looping shooting star and ursa, shooting star closed as soon as the gondola opened but that side was getting soft by lunch. It warmed up fast so wrapped up on the snowbowl side. Got into west pilot in the afternoon, should have gone there first thing.

i really should know better re: stratton on a 'mid-winter' saturday. but holy shit what a nightmare yesterday (saturday 3/7). they had big races going on franks and on the moguls above snow bowl. snow bowl and gondola started the day on hold. snow was fine. sticky. soft. to be expected. more april 7 than march 7 but depth and coverage is great. anyway, i tried to avoid the worst of it by doing long sun bowl laps but the lines were brutal and i left at like 1230. i was gonna go back today or check out jiminy but i ended up just cleaning the house, going to the gym, eating a bagel. eager for winter to come back up north...

Mountain was in rough shape yesterday. Areas of dirt on most of the trails in the upper mountain. I'm frankly shocked at how quickly it happened. After this blowtorch, not sure if the mountain is going to make it to April...

Yeah Stratton will make April.

Problem is, this is the first melt and without snow depth technology on the groomers you don’t know trouble areas until they show. Unfortunately, with no overnight freeze you can’t repair. Once we get to Thursday and Friday post cold front they will start moving snow around to cover the thin spots.

And hopefully the promised colder pattern verifies and more to the point, delivers some snow he second half of March snd into April.
