Harrisburg is popular stop for ae 2nd tier jam bands this summer. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

moe./Umphrey's McGee
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong (not my thing)
JRAD
String Cheese Incident

JRAD and SCI will both be outside along the river which is a great place to see a show.

Please explain
It looks like you have not been to Sugarbush this year. On Saturdays they are playing modern EDM music thru the new courtyard music system above Johnny's Juice Box. I think it's a fairly up to date play list of new stuff, at least new to me. A couple weeks ago I was Shazamming tracks to see what they were playing but with no luck. It's the first time in 25 years being there on a steady basis that they played music I actually like! And it appears to me the younger crowd actually likes it too!

Apparently an old deadhead is complaining without irony about the kids and their “drug den music”
This truly made me laugh out loud, thank you very much! Yup, I completely missed the irony of what I typed. We were hanging out with friends Saturday and one called it drug den music which I thought was a great comment. Just to age myself, saw the Dead like 8 times, Bobby and the Midnights and JGB back before having my eyes to music opened up by punk rock in about 1978. Never looked back, except when at Sugarbush where the music never stopped... until this year!

The Sugarloaf apres dj was playing for the courtyard in a repainted gondola cabin (fallen and shipped from from Sunday River?). It was a series of bad pop/classic rock edm remixes. The crowd was LOVING it.

I'm not thrilled that moe. is touring with Umphrey's this summer. UM bores the living hell out of me. I've tried. Been to probably ten UM shows over the years. Tried again last summer and was bored. Their shredding talent is undeniable, but they can't write songs to save their life. Same is true of many jam bands. I wouldn't count moe. among them. They have some fantastic songs.

i think UM sucks. i also peg the 2022 co-headline tour with UM and the disco biscuits as the beginning of the end of the disco biscuits, tho that was not UM's fault. the biscuits are really crashing and burning right now with a very public ugly dispute with their recently laid off drummer. speaking of new drummers, UM parted ways with their long-time drummer on good terms, and a good friend from my childhood got called up to the big leagues and is UM's full time new drummer. good for scotty from summer camp, but UM sucks.

I assumed Kris left on his on accord because UMs popularity has been falling for several years. The show a friend dragged me to last summer had a venue capacity of 2200 and I would be surprised if 1000 were in the audience. If the band also wanted him to leave, that would surprise me as he was the most talented musician in the band. Some would say it's Jake because of how fast he plays. But that's all he does. Plays fast.

i dont know very much about their music or band dynamics, but my understanding is he left on very good terms, the opposite of how tdb handled allen's departure.

the dwindling crowd sizes seems to be afflicting that entire generation of the jambands. college kids dont give a shit anymore and older fans grow up or die. the young kids like goose i guess?

It isn't always EDM every Saturday...Metallica was playing over the system in the courtyard the Saturday prior to this one when I was walking through after skiing...

On Saturday Killington had a DJ at bear mtn playing edm from the top of a red bull truck. I think it was for the snowboard race.

I think there's a lot of factors. Ticket costs are probably a big factor for many. The cost of booze at shows has gotten insane and the younger generation just isn't partying like we once did because of those costs and just realizing how terrible binge drinking is for you.

Goose has some normal people appeal, so that certainly helps them. Not my thing. Dogs in a Pile seem to be on an upward trajectory, but probably top out at like a Disco Biscuits level of popularity, but only if they keep putting in the heavy touring work. I like those guys a lot when I've seen them, but I couldn't name a single song.

I still catch about one show a month, but for 25 years I was at live music probably an average of once a week. Now it's gotta be someone new I haven't seen or someone I haven't seen in a long time, or a cheap local tribute act from musicians I'm friends with. I've got only three shows on my calendar currently and they all fall into those categories.

Seacoast Last Waltz - this Sunday. Friends with the players

High Fade (kick ass funk band from Scotland I've never seen) in May

String Cheese - August. Been close to ten years
