so...loon was kind of awesome today.

i had never been and expected the worst due to its reputation for crowds and grooming everything.

got there at 8:15 and they were reporting 5" and it was still snowing lightly. headed straight to north peak and oh yea it was skiing powder style. you definitely hit the icy bottom on steeper pitches but this was pretty legit powder skiing. all of the glades were closed, but they looked good enough to ski cautiously, and i ducked the rope and hit every marked glade at loon except for upper walking boss. the south peak glade is missing on my ski tracks gps, my phone died for about 30 min in the cold. triple trouble was closed for no good reason and it was holding absolutely epic untouched powder lines all day long, skied it like 5 times. i definitely fucked up my bases in the trees, but i had such a fun day. dropped the skis at lahouts for an overnight tune and some p-tex.

and no lines at all. i only used the main base lifts once, but upper mountain lifts were ski on almost all day. singles line had a ~5 person line from 10:30-12
