Expert advice on how safe booking April 10th K-ton trip is.

Thanks so far for all the great advice. I'm just trying to organzie a ski/snowboard trip for about 8 guys, and as we are all from CT, I felt it easier to organize a 3 hour drive, that's why I'm leaning Killington. But if you guys think I don't have to book ahead of time, I guess I'll wait.

Expert advice on how safe booking April 10th K-ton trip is.

I think last year they were open till May 1st or 2nd, but I'm not sure of Killington's history, or dedication to April ski conditions. Is it silly for me to book a trip for April 10th-11th at this point in time? Is only part of the mountain open at this time? When do we usually know how late...

Where would you rate the past 5 days?

Considering I've only been doing this for 4 years, these are some of the best days I have ever seen in the Northeast.

    Leash law opinions

I just got introduced to this rule this past weekend at Jiminiy Peak. Prior to this, I have never heard about this law, apparently it's a law in MA as well as NY, but don't tell Wachusett or Berkshire East that. Silly if you ask me, hold the owner of said runaway snowboard responsible instead...

    ^I agree with this guy.

    Mid-March in CT

I would suggest Ski Sundown hands down. It's way better value than Southington. And Mohawk, even if comparable, is farther away from you (especially if your staying in Hartford). Make plans for Ski Sundown. (also note, if you are in fact staying in Hartford, that is a cool 2 hours from the 590...

    Where to ski Friday 01/22?

If I were headin to Southern Vermont tomorrow, it'd be Okemo first (if you have a discount), Stratton, then Bromley.

    Where to ski tomorrow, 1/22?

For a day trip from Boston, I'd rather drive the 3-3.4 hrs it takes to Sunday River than the 4 hours it would take to get to Jay Peak. And Sunday River is better than Smugglers, even if their drives may be comparable. I have a formula for these kinds of things. Time skiing/snowboarding must be...

    Attitash Military Salute - Crowds

I can guarantee you it will be pretty darn crowded. I am in the military, and I'm staying far away for that weekend. Lots and lots of fellow servicemen and their families I know are going, and well, just not my cup of tee, especially since they don't even have a high speed quad going to the top...

Help me choose between Jiminy, Butternut, & Catamount.

^I would go to Berkshire East, but we can go there anytime really, we live off of 91 in CT, and we've been there before, so I'm looking to try a couple new places. I think I'm going to go with Catamount and Jiminy Peak, as crowded trails make her more nervous than steepness does (I've heard...

Help me choose between Jiminy, Butternut, & Catamount.

You're right, I should've included that info. My wife is a beginner level skier (probably for life!), and I'm an intermediate level snowboarder (I've done the blacks at Snow and Killington, maybe a little slow, but completed nonetheless.)

Help me choose between Jiminy, Butternut, & Catamount.

My wife and I are fortunate enough to be having a weekend at a Bed & Breakfast in Lee, Ma (Western Mass). We'll be skiing for two days, and I've never been to Jiminy Peak, Butternut, or Catamount. Which 2 of the 3 should I plan on going to have the best time?

    killington 1/16-17/2010

I was there also Saturday and Sunday of MLK weekend. Saturday was beautiful, Sunday a little cloudy/windy, low visibility at the tops of the peaks when you got off the lifts. My first trip to Killington though, and it was great, especially staying right in the Sunrise condos.

Heavenly and Squaw Valley - Feb 8-10, 2009

Looks like I'll be finishing my season at Squaw, as the Air Force is making me go to N. Cal. for 3 weeks, and Squaw will only be 2 hours away. Squaw doesn't close till May 10th, so I hope conditions are even 60% as awesome as Micheal J's trip report. I can't wait!

Lake Tahoe Great offers for Skiers and Snowboarders

Because apparently the Tahoe region was hit the hard in the nutz as far as attendance, and all the resorts usually open till May are closing mid-April, except for Squaw Valley.
