    Killington=AMAZING! The POSITIVE Killington thread!!!

I've only been to Killington twice, but I'll chime in. - Parking lot at each of the base lifts. - A green trail at the top of each lift. Everybody gets to play.

Butternut Mass any love or reports?

Butternut is a fun, little place to ski. I only ski greens and blues, but I can handle the black diamonds there. (Each black diamond there is so designated because of a short, steep drop on the trail.) I like the variety of trails there; each trail seems to have its own, unique...

    Windham skier dies

Upper Warpath is pretty steep for a blue trail. I wonder if he lost control of his speed. Always sad to hear this sort of news.

    Snow or Super Bowl?

Definitely snow for me. I’m probably the only 100% hetero all-american male who doesn’t care about football. Did you know that over the entire course of an average game, the ball is in play for only 11 minutes?

How do snow reporting websites get updated?

There are a bunch of websites out there that have snow and trail reports (snocountry.com, onthesnow.com, etc.) Lots of TV stations have reports both on their websites and their broadcasts. How do they all get this information? Is it up to the snow reporting websites to contact the ski area to...

The official non tech dork thread

Thanks for posting, awf170. I’m glad I’m not the only one in here who is “non-tech.” I own one pair of skis, used, paid $150 for the pair. My boots are also used, paid $30. I stick to green and blue groomed trails. I don’t understand half of the technical jargon used here. I don’t own any...

Injuries. Whats your worst, if any?

Rotator cuff injury. I was collided into from behind by another skier who was going way too fast and apparently not in control. Didn't see it coming. (Unlike cars, skis don't have rear-view mirrors.) 5 weeks of physical therapy. No skiing either for those 5 weeks.

Post your Top 10 favorite trails / runs / trees in the Northeast..

I’m an intermediate skier, and my favorites tend to be easier blue trails that wind their way through the woods. (Note that not all of these meet that criteria) In no particular order: Deer Run – Belleayre John Hancock – Jiminy Peak Freewheeler – Butternut U/L Applejack – Butternut Big Chief...

Is Ski Sundown worth the $55 mid-week lift ticket?

Made it out to Sundown today. Had a good time. A special thanks to Chris Sullivan for chimimng in earlier in the week in support of Sundown. Yet another ski area I can check off my list. It's always so much fun visiting a ski area for the first time.

Is Ski Sundown worth the $55 mid-week lift ticket?

Thanks, Chris, I'll keep your feedback in mind.

Is Ski Sundown worth the $55 mid-week lift ticket?

Thanks, gmcunni. Think I might give it a shot. Each year I like to take about 5 vacation days off from work, spread out over the course of the winter, and visit a ski area I've never been to before. I'm a solid intermediate skier (greens and blues all day), though I can handle some of the...

Is Ski Sundown worth the $55 mid-week lift ticket?

Looking to take a day off from work mid-week and go skiing. Based on snow reports, it looks like Ski Sundown has the best percentage of coverage within a reasonable driving distance for me (15 of 15 trails open). But $55 for a mid-week lift ticket seems kinda pricey for an area with only 625...

    What mountain is that?

Thanks guys. Yup, that's one mountain I haven't been to yet. (7 hours away)

    What mountain is that?

Pardon my ignorance, but which mountain is pictured in the upper right corner of this website? I'm pretty sure it's not any of the 40 or so I've been to.

Woodbury Blowing Snow Saturday and opening Sunday

I've read that Woodbury is always the first to open in Connecticut, which I think is pretty much true. I really like Butternut, but I tend to avoid it on the weekends, because it usually gets super-crowded (probably due to their dirt-cheap season passes.) Definitely not for advanced skiers, as...

Wearing the lift ticket - Does this ever happen to you?

I'm referring specifically to the adhesive lift ticket which you attach to a wicket. It always seems like no matter which way I apply the lift ticket, the back of it is always showing as I approach the person checking lift tickets. I find myself always looking down to see which side is showing...

When do you think you will end your season?

I think it's over for me for the season. My last day was April 9 at Plattekill. Wow, Gorgonzola, that's a goal that's gonna get tougher and tougher each year!

Earning My Turns - Any advice for a first-timer?

No, didn't make it. Wanted to, but other stuff came up.

Earning My Turns - Any advice for a first-timer?

Yeah, I figured I would try Belleayre when I saw this on their Facebook page We are calling it the last day of the 2010-2011 Skiing and Riding Season at Belleayre! (Although we know the hardcores will be hiking to earn their turns as we still have tons of snow!)
