I'm hiking an overnight trip to Carter Notch (staying at AMC hut) next week (13-14) to coincide with the Perseid meteor shower - the height of the shower is the nights of the 12th and 13th.
Leaving Monday morning to hike up Mt. Moriah - then begins the traverse over the Carters Range: North, Middle, South, and Dome before descending into the Notch. Along the traverse we'll also pass over Imp and scope out places to hike back to at night. The goal is to come back to Carter Dome or Mt. Hight for sunset and catch some meteors shooting over Mt. Washington. Hike back down with headlamps, flashlights, and hopefully not too many bumps and bruises.
Tuesday morning wake up at the hut and, after an AMC breakfast, hike Wildcat and Wildcat D.
About 15.5 miles total journey, six 4Kfters down. Plus a freaking meteor shower!
If you'll be out on the trails those nights, stay up a bit later or wake up and look up!
