I agree with his premise that past history does not guarantee future results. My only exception to his point is that he is considering Mt. Mansfield, and the Accuweather long-range winter forecast predicts a cold and snowy winter in the Mid-Atlantic. Their snazzy map has the cut off right around Mass.

So it's entirely possible for both parties to be correct, that is a snowier than normal winter in PA/NJ/CT, and an average winter in northern New England.
