My ski website has hit 19,000 visitors. I began the site in February of 2002 with several postcards and a couple brochures. My focus was New England. It was quite small so the "free" geocities site worked fine for me. It wasn't long before it had grown and I needed to pay for a site. I upgraded it again last year to 2000mb, that is almost full now.

Thanks to friends and other supporters, I now have nearly 600 postcards and over 200 brochures from around the world. I have some books and booklets, pins, tickets, stickers, original research articles and more now. I am currently attempting to free up some space on the site so that I can upload the more than 100 postcards and about 100 more brochures that are sitting in a shoebox next to my computer.

It has been great fun putting the site together and hunting for more things to put on it at flea markets, antique shops, and on eBay. It has also been great to receive things from friends and people who have viewed the site. It has grown far bigger than I ever expected.

If you haven't looked at it yet check it out. Leave me a message on the guest book. If there are things you would like to see added, let me know.

Thanks,
Laurie

laurie, i was browsing your site yesterday looking for postcards for loon and have a suggestion that may help you save bandwidth. instead of having a selection for "show all postcards," you could index it a bit more to narrow things down such as newenglad/state/area. only have text links for the indexing then have the thumbs on a seperate page for each area. that means a lot more pages of HTML, but may save bandwidth over having all the thumbs in one index which takes a while to load even on DSL, so it must eat up bandwidth after a few hits.

congrats on 19,000. my page has had a counter since 1996 and i don't have half those hits.

Yes, that is what I am working toward, but I needed to first get them sorted, so that is why it's like that. I also print up that page to take with me when I go to card shows.

I'm working on making things easier. I had NO web experience before I started to build this one so there are many things that I have learned since starting, now it's just to apply them and to redo pages where that is needed.

BTW- Your site is looking good!

Congrats! I've browsed your site several times, its always fun seeing the old brochures and stuff :D

BTW, the link to your website in your profile (http://teachski.com/index.htm) doesn't work for me, I had to chop off the /index.htm part for it to work...
