Loon

Conditions:

2/6 Sunday
6" New snow overnight, with a rain-ice layer at varied depths, depending on parts of mountain. These are difficult conditions to enjoy. As the crowd broke it up, it was a little better. But, still alot of work. Largest crowd I have seen on a Superbowl Sunday. Lift line for 7 Brothers, couple of minutes. None for North or South Peaks. Basin chair ski on too. I don't bother with the gondi, but I didn't notice that the line was off the concrete.

2/7 Monday
Extensive grooming made for a fast and easy day. Needed after getting beat-up on Sunday. Warm, but still below freezing. Conditions were awesome, and went from bell to bell with one short break. Not crowded, not empty. Ski on lifts. Gondi, inside building.

2/8 Tuesday
Awoke to couple inches overnight, and snowing. Close to 30 degrees at opening bell. Conditions were great, and the place was empty. Not "powder", but fresh tracks were available to all. Got colder as the day went on, and the snow picked up to limit vision. About 1pm temp really dipped and snow got driving. By 2pm it was difficult to ski, given temp, wind chill, and new snow depth of 6+. Gave up at 3pm. Not many others still on hill. I'm guessing Wednesday will be awesome.

I went 10 to 3 on Monday. Spent the afternoon making runs with Johnskiismore. Great time again. Spent 1/2 the time skiing south peak trying to save my legs for Monday night racing at Pats Peak. South mountain is the place if you just want to cruise. Took Ripsaw for the first time. Upper part was not goomed. Can you say humbled. Frozen ice bumps, it looked soft on the edges. Ha not the case.
I had a great day and it was just prime pp groomed conditions where the groomers made it out. Great to ski on a warm day,

I wasn't on it Tuesday, but I heard they had groomed out Ripsaw on Monday night.

With the weather, didn't want to sit on Tote Road Quad into the face of it.
